“Most Enjoyable Time & Pleasant Suprise”
Reviewed 5 June 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay starting with a vey early check in that we really did appreciate. and upgrade to a Sea View Room. Whilst there was no safe, the room was very clean, with clean linen and thick fluffy towels. The room had a large patio with sun baking loungers and table, plenty of room, with lovely view. The hotel is not new, however it is very quiet, and peaceful, surrounded by the mountains and sea. Big bonus is the bus stops right outside hotel, and the owner Trudy is more than helpful with directions to where ever you wish to go, and will help with any other matters happily. The breakfast is more than adequate and VJ the Chef waits on you hand and foot. While everything in Capri is expensive we found the 3 star Nautilus far better than many supposed 4 star hotel throughout Europe. TIP. Take advantage of all the local bus services throughout the Island and do many of the beautiful walks, you wont be sorry.

Room Tip: Treat others as you would wished to be treated .

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Nautilus. It is small and has a nice garden. There is nothing wrong with the breakfast, as another review claims. If the bowl of fruit is not big enough for you, there are apples, bananas, oranges... The sun roof is also a good asset. The landlady gives you nice tips where to go and other good insider recommendations. The other staff is pleasant and very kind as well. The bathroom is rather small, especially the bath itself.
The bus stops just in front of the gate, it brings you in 5 minutes to the centre of Capri town. Alternatively, you can take the steps or the scenic "Via Krupp" (about 25 minutes walk to town). In 5 minutes you are on the beach of Marina Piccola.

Room Tip: First floor, front of the house (nicest view)

"Two Aussies in Italy" Re: Hotel Nautilus, Capri.
This hotel is situated in a very peaceful, scenic part of Capri and was a haven from the touristy 'hustle & bustle' of the Island. The manager & staff are extremely friendly and helpful and compared to the supposed 4 star accommodation we had while in Rome, this hotel was far superior. The room we were in was well appointed and very comfortable, with views which take one's breath away.
We were so impressed with the place, we arranged for two of our dear Italian friends to spend a weekend there for a belated honeymoon/birthday get -away. They emailed us later that their experience was just like ours - beautiful.

Idylli hotel at dreamlike position softly embedded in an affectionately maintained garden with fruit trees and palms equipped is. The house is generously built with much daylight without elevator and with family charm. The good service and the friendly operation are charming. Large and affectionately furnished rooms with good comfort and radiating cleanliness. The hotel stands above the famous via Krupp the one with numerous curves to the sea down there leads.

Thought I'd write something since there's not been a recent review and from the previous ones you don't get the best impression. Location is fabulous, a few minutes down some steps to the beautiful Marina Piccola, where I was shocked to discover is not your typical 'free beach' - you have to pay entrances to these private bathing establishments, or as we did, went to the 'free beach' which was a tiny strip of pebbles around the corner albeit with beautiful views and even without the sunloungers at the end of the day it's the same ocean! Didn't attempt walking into Capri town, always took the bus, not complicated at all, you can pretty much hail the bus on the street as if it were a taxi, for a euro or so and a 10 minute ride, you're in town. The hotel itself is clean and modern, the rooms and bathrooms are a little on the small side (tastefully decorated) but we had a (covered) balcony (sea views) with sunloungers, minibar and table and chairs. The walls are thin and the sound carries, not great when my friend and I came back at 5 in the morning, thinking we weren't making much noise and then suddenly we heard "silencio!!!" from our neighbours. It's true that the Swiss-German lady at the desk isn't the warmest of people but we didn't find her rude either, just a little vague - hard to get precise answers to our questions, otherwise fine. The Sri Lankan guys (didn't get their names) on the other hand were really friendly and talkative and very helpful. Breakfast is a bit of a sad affair - a croissant, a bread roll, a tiny fruit salad, and a watered down fruit juice but they were fine with us asking for seconds and us arriving 5 mins after the breakfast was supposed to be over. Other info: when we arrived the room wasn't ready (we arrived a bit early) so they kindly gave us towels to go to the beach in the meantime. However we realised upon checkout that we'd been given the 'wrong' room as we'd actually stayed in the more expensive ocean view room when I'd asked for a standard (€154), so when it came to her asking for €200, I politely stated that I'd originally asked for a standard room (and that the error was theirs) and thankfully there was no argument, so we ended up with the 'upgrade'! Although suspiciously, they asked if we used the air-con (we didn't) but I'm assuming there was going to be a charge for that if we had! I would stay here again but I think €154 is a bit cheeky for a 3 star hotel. I know Capri is expensive in general but I'm quite sure you can find the same standard for less money; even the Weber (down the road) is cheaper - and it's a 4 star joint that's right on the water with supposedly an amazing buffet breakfast and a shuttle bus service! We'll be booking earlier next time.

  • Liked — Location to beach/Marina Piccola
  • Disliked — Althought a lovely hotel, not great value for money as it is expensive for what it is

We stayed there for our second honey moon. The attitude was nice, the hotel was nice and cosy. As we were more walking around the island than staying in the hotel, in general it seemed nice. The breakfast was very poor. The owner was kind (probably it's because her little dog fell in love with us), we had some nice talks during the breakfast, she gave some useful advices on where to go and what to see.
The location is great, the bus is right there, little beach very close to the hotel, as well as Via Krupp.
But I have to admit, there wasn't that warm and friendly atmosphere which I had expected from this kind of little, owner-run hotel.
And at the end we realised that in Capri it doesn't matter where you stay because the island is a dream!
