“Wonderful hotel wonderful staff”

My wife & I stayed 3 nights in this delightful hotel. Room was spacious & clean & just felt good. Staff was very helpful for whatever we asked. Sabrina at the breakfast which is included each morning was so friendly & helpful. Plus fun. This hotel is a great discovery in the wild creative city of Naples.

This is was a great place to visit. It's in the old part of Naples. The staff were friendly & very helpful. We were near the restaurants & churches. The rooms were clean & comfortable. It was clean. The rooms were bright & tastefully decorated. There was plenty of space. Breakfast was great & plenty of it.

Room Tip: All the room were good.

Delightful hotel in an old but interesting part of the city. We had a balcony connecting two rooms, overlooking the street, which made it fascinating watching daily life. The staff were excellent and extremely helpful, recommending an excellent restaurant nearby. Despite the look of the area, we never had any problems.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September and had a very good time. The hotel is small (22 rooms) and tucked away in a rather grand but decadent palazzo, with an incredible breakfast room. The rooms are spacious and spotless, there's good free wi-fi, and the place is very quiet as it's very far from traffic. The breakfast in the morning is rather basic, but it's what we normally have at home (coffee and croissants) so it was good for us. The top quality of this hotel is its location, bang in the centre, right next to Santa Chiara and walking distance from the Duomo and even from the central station (if you're without luggage), where you can get trains to Pompeii and Herculaneum. The staff is delightful and very happy to help with itineraries, advice, etc. Federica, Elena and Anna made our stay unforgettable and never forgot to call us taxis with "pre-arranged" tariffs, so that we never had to pay more than was due. Excellent experience, totally recommended.

We stayed here for two nights primarily to see the museum with all the Pompei finds. It was centrally located so easy to get about. There are lots of local restaurants but we walked down to the bay and found some nicer places on the way to the bay frequented by locals and had a lovely time.

The receptionist is very helpful and it is an interesting building. The breakfast is pretty basic - and if you are not on a package that includes breakfast I would suggest eating out because you may be better off.

Considering you are in the centre of Naples the price is not too bad.

I had read a number of reviews before booking this hotel so was not put off by the area this hotel was in and the entrance to the hotel itself. Yes the area was covered in grafitti and the narrow streets were piled with rubbish but after a couple of days in Naples that just added to the charm of the place! I have grown up hearing stories of the dangers of Naples but I have to say I didn't feel threatened once.

We stayed for two days before going off to tour Puglia and then returned for our final night before flying home - and I have to say we were both really happy to be back despite my husband having declared it a "dump" on first arriving in the frenetic city.

I cannot speak highly enough of the Hotel and its staff who literally could not do enough for you - particularly Federica, who was delightful.

The room we had for our first two days was magnificent - but on our return our room was very small, dark and dingy which was a bit of a shame but we were only there for a night.

To anyone who has been nervous of going to Naples I would say "go" - you too will come to love it.

If this is your first time in Naples, you may be put off by how the historical centre looks. Narrow streets, dark at times, all the walls spray painted, some trash here and there. Don't be fooled: there is A LOT of history there. The hotel is located in the middle of it all and this makes it very easy to sight see, especially for people who only have a day or two to spend there. We arrived at the port from Capri and got a taxi to the hotel (10 euro). The hotel is located off a courtyard and has good amenities. We were welcomed by a friendly member of staff who showed us to our room and gave suggestions of where to go and places to eat. We stayed in a triple room who was big enough for us, had a small balcony and a good bathroom. Wi-fi in the room worked well and the only minor I can think of was the lighting in the room: it could perhaps have some more light for reading and other activities. The room also offers one pillow per person. For me, not issue at all, but I know it can be for some. The breakfast room is beautiful, an attraction by itself! As we left very early in the morning, we didn't get to try their breakfast, but I am sure the room by itself is already very enjoyable. A good place to stay, a bit of an oasis in a somewhat chaotic city!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We are glad to give you the warmest welcome as our guests into Palazzo Sisto Riario Sforza. Here, in the heart of Naples old town within inches of Santa Chiara Church with its Cloister, the Veiled Christ and Via San Gregorio Armeno was born, in 2008, our Hotel. The Decumani Hotel de Charme was originally built during the 17th century and belonged to Sisto Riario Sforza, the last Archbishop of Naples in the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies of which Naples was the capital. In 2008 we embarked on a major refurbishment programme for the second floor, where the Hotel is placed. The hotel has now been fully restored and equipping with all the modern conveniences our guests expect. A wide lounge, decorated with golden stuccoes and mirrors, testifies the illustrious past of this residence. All of our 22 bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and feature the following: soundproof windows, flat screen Television with international channels, safe, minibar, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. The Decumani Hotel de Charme is located in the Decumani, in the heart of the old town originally a Greek "polis" and then a Roman "urbs", an area wich represents with its squares, streets and alleys, a unique historical, cultural and artistic heritage, as it is testified by the acknowledgment of Unesco, which in 1995 declared the historic centre of Naples " the biggest open-air museum in the world". ... more   less
