“Helful staff/ beautiful hotel”
Reviewed 13 April 2014

The outside of this hotel doesn't look promising but inside is fab. Rooms are clean and decorated in keeping with the hotel style. The dining room is the most beautiful room I have seen in any hotel. The staff are friendly and very helpful.
The only downside is the noisy neighbourhood, particularly at night but that is a small price to pay for staying in such a lovely place.

Decumani Hotel de Charme is a great choice in the historic district. Comfortable, clean, and the location is perfect. The staff is very friendly, accommodating and they tried hard to insure my stay was wonderful. I needed a hotel that is convenient to transportation and comfortable for a solo woman. The Decumani is a 15 minute walk from the Metro and located in the center of most sites in Naples’ historic district. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a nice convenience and service is good. This hotel is indeed charming and provides a comfortable retreat in frantic Naples.

We were surprised to find that this room is right in the middle of a residential / commercial block on the second floor of an old palace. However the room was excellent (recently painted, etc), the staff was super helpful and the location turned out to be very good.

The Decumani would have been impossible for us to find without a taxi driver but once we figured it out we were satisfied with it.

Breakfast is basically of the continental sort but fine to get you going for a day of shopping or visiting Pompeii.

There are cute restaurants and shopping within a 5 minute walk. The luxury shopping area of Naples is a longish walk or short cab ride away.

Solid place for your visit to Naples.

This hotel is perfect for exploring Naples and all the sights. I am not sure we have stayed anywhere where the staff have been SO helpful, taking time to help us plan our day and get around. It is within walking distance of the station (for Pompeii, Vesuvius, Herculaneum etc), and the port (Capri, Sorrento, Ischia etc) and of course very central for the many historic sights of the city. It is hard to pick a highlight of our stay, perhaps just wondering the buzzing streets on Saturday night walking down to St Lucia to eat seafood on the harbour front whilst watching Vesuvius glow orange in the setting sun. Capri for the day is a must, as is Pompeii.
As others have said, the exterior does not depict the interior - and we were fairly terrified to be dropped by the taxi after dark, who waved his arm up a dark alleyway towards the non-obvious hotel, and drove off! However, once we orientated ourselves we felt quite at home. Another pleasant surprise is that it was incredibly quiet, especially at night - we were expecting 'city noise', but it was silent. From a more general point, it is sad to see so so much graffiti and litter in such an incredibly majestic historic city. Don't let it stop you going, but be forewarned.

Ok, its hard not to repeat what is written in a lot of the other reviews, fantastic staff, clean impressive interior and rooms, with a great breakfast. The hotel is well positioned for exploring all the old town and only a short stroll to the Circumvesuviana train station for exploring Pompei, Sorrento etc. Piazza Municipio is a ten to fifteen minute walk if you plan to use the Alibus from the airport ( in my opinion way better than a taxi ). It's hard to think of a negative, but if I had to find one I found the wifi was not the greatest away from the main reception area but with staff that can not do too much to help you, it's not the end of the world.

We arrived in the early evening and the Decumani Hotel de charme's entrance was a little off putting, had we made a right choice? yes yes and yes we had. There was a faded charm about this hotel. FANTASTIC staff, very welcoming nothing was too much trouble, recommending resturants, shopping places to visit. Internet connection is claimed for all rooms but we found that the thickness of the walls did not make this always possible. but the hotel lobby had very good connection. So hurry visit Naples start your day staying in this hotel and fill up with an excellent continental breakfast. We cant wait to return

As with other reviews the walk into the area makes you think what have I done however once inside the hotel we found friendly efficient staff fluent in several languages always happy to say hello. We stayed twice so got a measure of the rooms, roomy for a city hotel. Great showers and very fast wifi. Breakfast was served in the stunning ballroom with a member of staff on hand to make coffee to Italian standard. The buffet was fairly standard not a meal to give any real joy to eating. One street up is the historic centres heart, great narrow streets filled with vibrant life, a people watchers paradise this wasn't what we expected and looked forward to our return at the end of the road trip. The area looks somewhat run down but its busy with university students so safe if you use normal city common sense.

We are glad to give you the warmest welcome as our guests into Palazzo Sisto Riario Sforza. Here, in the heart of Naples old town within inches of Santa Chiara Church with its Cloister, the Veiled Christ and Via San Gregorio Armeno was born, in 2008, our Hotel. The Decumani Hotel de Charme was originally built during the 17th century and belonged to Sisto Riario Sforza, the last Archbishop of Naples in the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies of which Naples was the capital. In 2008 we embarked on a major refurbishment programme for the second floor, where the Hotel is placed. The hotel has now been fully restored and equipping with all the modern conveniences our guests expect. A wide lounge, decorated with golden stuccoes and mirrors, testifies the illustrious past of this residence. All of our 22 bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and feature the following: soundproof windows, flat screen Television with international channels, safe, minibar, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. The Decumani Hotel de Charme is located in the Decumani, in the heart of the old town originally a Greek "polis" and then a Roman "urbs", an area wich represents with its squares, streets and alleys, a unique historical, cultural and artistic heritage, as it is testified by the acknowledgment of Unesco, which in 1995 declared the historic centre of Naples " the biggest open-air museum in the world". ... more   less
