The hotel is tucked away down a narrow street, in what initially feels a less than welcoming area of town. However, don't be put off by first impressions. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, and couldn't have been more helpful.
I travelled with a friend, and our twin room was a comfortable size, with a small balcony, shared with the neighbouring room, and a gorgeous bathroom. An extra pillow would have been nice, but I'm sure this would have been provided had we actually asked! The breakfast room is stunning, and there is a good selection of cereals, meats, fruit and yoghurt, although my sweet tooth got the better of me every day and I found the pastries and doughnuts impossible to resist!
First impressions aside, when leaving the hotel to explore, I actually found that I didn't feel at all unsafe at any time, and the hotel is perfectly located for exploring the old parts of the city. The narrow cobbled streets of the Decumani are fascinating and we spent hours just wandering around seeing what we stumbled across.
Naples itself is a beautiful city, and for the first time I feel I have experienced the real Italy. The people were friendly, and my friend and I received more than one offer of assistance whilst exploring. Don't let the graffiti and litter put you off!
