The location of the hotel is excellent in the historic centre of Naples allowing easy walking access to all the important historic sites. Walking the streets of this vibrant, historic and fascinating city is an experience worth having. The staff of Decumani are welcoming, friendly and very helpful. I hope we can return. Especially enjoyed the breakfast room and pleasant staff there.

We stayed at the Decumani Hotel de Charme for two nights in late June and had a wonderful stay. The location in the old historic centre was perfect for exploring the lively, chaotic streets of Naples -- especially the wonderful Via Tribunali -- and near enough to the archeological museum to walk. The staff was welcoming, friendly and very helpful in providing directions, restaurant recommendations, and helping me to sort out a mistake I made in a tour arrangement. Our room - a standard double - was clean and quiet. The TV didn't work but we didn't care, we only used the room to sleep, and the air-conditioning did work which was more important! Breakfast is served in a beautiful old room and there is a rooftop deck for lounging. Don't be put off by the first floor entrance and small elevator which are so typical of many European apartment buildings. The lobby and public rooms are filled with interesting furniture and artwork. We found this outstanding value for a three-star hotel and will stay at Decumani Hotel de Charme again if we go back to Naples.

The hotel is located at the heard of old historic part of city at ancient Royal Palace. And this is right because you will fell yourself as a queen or king. We arrived very late from Amalfi Coast and been was surprised as the receptionist upgraded our room as 2 story loft with balcony for the same price as double room. We interested in a restaurants where the locals usually have a dinner. The reception staff gave us the names of restaurants and directions with map. The breakfast area is a huge royal salon with piano and grand mirrors. So if you planning to explore the old district, all main attraction and especially Church Guesa Nuova stay here. Safety and quiet, clean and hospitality.

The hotel, located on the second floor off a courtyard, on a quiet side street had us concerned at first. But as soon as we arrived, the welcome, the beautifully maintained space and great design put us at ease. The location is uber convenient. Their recommendations are spot on. Breakfast could not be lovelier. Note: the in room fridges are stocked and priced for "friendliness". Nice!

We stayed here for 4 nights in June, and my sole reason for booking was the pictures of the hotel...I even changed my flights so that I could stay at this hotel!
It is situated in the old town, with cobbled streets away from the busy main roads and is surrounded by numerous restaurants to choose from, although the staff will be more than happy to recommend somewhere if you want somewhere a bit special.
The bedrooms are spacious, and the dining room is somewhat of a masterpiece...I would definitely stay here again if I come to Naples again!

The reviews for this hotel led us to stay here, but I have to say, I think the reviews are highly inflated. The location itself was really not good. I recommend that unless you have a specific reason to be in this area, you should stay in the more tourist-friendly areas to the east and south-east of the port. This hotel is in a run-down area of Naples, and we were without running water for about half a day due to a problem which affected the entire area, which the staff seemed to regard as a situation that was not terribly unusual. As many have written on here, the entrance elevator and stairway are shabby and falling apart, with discarded beer bottles cluttering the stairway, presumably indicative of the type of thing that goes on in there during the night, when we were too scared to venture out. But I found that the hotel wasn't that much of a contrast to it. The staff was friendly, but often seemed too stressed and overwhelmed to be helpful to us. The bed was slightly less firm than the tile floor of the bathroom, and the pillows were the same thickness and softness as a Sunday newspaper (although they did give us a couple of much softer pillows upon request).

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We are glad to give you the warmest welcome as our guests into Palazzo Sisto Riario Sforza. Here, in the heart of Naples old town within inches of Santa Chiara Church with its Cloister, the Veiled Christ and Via San Gregorio Armeno was born, in 2008, our Hotel. The Decumani Hotel de Charme was originally built during the 17th century and belonged to Sisto Riario Sforza, the last Archbishop of Naples in the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies of which Naples was the capital. In 2008 we embarked on a major refurbishment programme for the second floor, where the Hotel is placed. The hotel has now been fully restored and equipping with all the modern conveniences our guests expect. A wide lounge, decorated with golden stuccoes and mirrors, testifies the illustrious past of this residence. All of our 22 bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and feature the following: soundproof windows, flat screen Television with international channels, safe, minibar, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. The Decumani Hotel de Charme is located in the Decumani, in the heart of the old town originally a Greek "polis" and then a Roman "urbs", an area wich represents with its squares, streets and alleys, a unique historical, cultural and artistic heritage, as it is testified by the acknowledgment of Unesco, which in 1995 declared the historic centre of Naples " the biggest open-air museum in the world". ... more   less
