“Good Hotel - convenient,nice,”
Reviewed 11 October 2010

This hotel is in a great location. Close to the train, ferry and the things you would want to see. The rooms were nice - the bathtub has a shower but no protection (curtain) so it does get quite wet when showering (you either have to stand facing the wall or sit down) As a result there is some mold around the tub in the ceiling. The rooms were small but nice, good tv. They made great recommendations for restaurants and again were very helpful. If you get off the ferry - the cost to the hotel is only $11. Our cab driver ripped us off and said $21. This happens alot in Naples so it is best that you let the hotel call cabs for you so its a pre-determined rate. We did hear a few other couples say the same thing and the hotel was very accomodating to try and fix the situation. Breakfast was alright - if your room is on the second floor you can hear the breakfast room quite clearly. So if you are light sleeper that may not work well for you. The front desk staff were always willing to help and very friendly.

This Hotel hosts very excellent serviceminded people together with extraordinary well decorated surroundings, we only stayed one night passing trough town, but what was first annoying turned into something fantastic just for staying the night at this hotel.

It's utterly beautiful. And the staff are the most helpful possible. Negotiating Naples is not easy, but this hotel staff are the best I have ever experienced. First, the hotel: The breakfast room is the main room of a palazzo. Beyond belief. And the breakfast is very good. The room: large, elegant, comfortable, clean. The staff: the best. We couldn't find their recommended restaurant, and when we came back, one of the members escorted us. We chose not to believe the staff when they told us not to go to a guidebook-recommended restaurant, and they were absolutely correct. The restaurant treated us extremely badly and was insulting. If you go to Naples, this is absolutely the place to stay. I cannot say enough about this remarkable place.

Booked this hotel based on its location in the heart of Spaccanapoli. Yes it's edgy and dirty but don't be put off by first impressions...the napolitains are warm and welcoming and definitely want tourists to have a wonderful time in their city. Back to the hotel, the welcome by Carlo was amazing, and typical of most of our encounters during our stay. He offered a lot of good tips and pointers of what to see in the city. We had been upgraded to a deluxe room which gave onto an inner courtyard and was very quiet. The sleeping area was a good size and I really liked the look of the bathroom - I do think they need to rethink the showers as the water does go all over the place. Breakfast was in the beautiful ballroom, the fresh pastries and delicious cappucinos were typically italian. I personally would have liked the option of something warm too, but this is Italy and breakfast is not such an important meal. However, I was unable to identify the two fruit "juices" and feel that at least this could be improved on - . Many thanks to Carlo and Fabrizio for being so patient, helpful and friendly - it really does make a difference to be able to come back after a long day sight-seeing and be met by a smile.

located in the heart of the historic centre, the hotel is an excellent base for visits to the various museums, the historic church buildings along the Decumanus Inferiore/Maximus, the hustle and bustle of Via Toledo on a Saturday night and the university. It also emerses you in normal Neapolitan life with people going about their daily life in the immediate eighbourhood. There are plenty of good restaurants, pizzerias and gelaterias within easy walking distance. The outside of the hotel initially is off-putting until you get used to Naples but the interior is very good. Staff are most helpful and have up to date info on ferries, buses, etc and go out of their way to be helpful when approached for info. Our room was spacious with an extremely large bed although the bed itself was quite hard. Breakfast was served in the beautiful palazzo room and provided a very good start for the day - coffee, hot chocolate, etc is made using a machine into which the appropriate bag is inserted - while it is perfectly adequate it is not the best coffee in Naples. Overall, a good value hotel

It's a hidden gem, right at the heart of Naples! Walking distance from the main shopping streets.
Staff at the Hotel are VERY friendly! I had all information I need to spend a memorable day/night…. What to visit … where to eat ..
Trust them and you won’t forget that place so easily !
At the reception and they provide a useful map.
Rooms, unbelievable comfortable and very quite during the night.
Breakfast room … bring a camera and start to take pictures from there !
I’ll definitely go back.
Highly recommended !

We were only in Naples on night, which was more than enough for me, not my favorite city. It’s dirty and crazy! The hotel is hard to find, take a taxi. It's located on a small residential street, located in the right half of a residential building. The hotel on the inside is beautiful. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. Our room was really large and comfortable. They have the most channels on their TV of any hotel I have every been in…ever. The bathroom is large, but not very functional. The water pressure was great but the shower was awkward. The breakfast room is amazingly beautiful, but the way they lay out the very minimal selection is strange.
The hotel is located near the major streets in the historic district. You can come out the hotel and be shopping in 2 minutes. Advice, Pizza was invented in Naples, so that is what you should eat here. We ate at the number one rated place in all Naples (listed below), which was ideally located a 5 minute walk from the hotel. To get to the Pizzeria you can come out of the hotel make a right, walk a few blocks, make a another right onto the busy street (you will know it) make another right and walk about 5 min, make another right onto Via Sersale...very easy. Also, the city map the hotel provides is the worst ever and no good for getting around, bring a map of the city if you can. We paid about $135 USD for the night.
This is the pizzeria...very yummy...Da Michele on Via Sersale, 13 – Tel [--]

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We are glad to give you the warmest welcome as our guests into Palazzo Sisto Riario Sforza. Here, in the heart of Naples old town within inches of Santa Chiara Church with its Cloister, the Veiled Christ and Via San Gregorio Armeno was born, in 2008, our Hotel. The Decumani Hotel de Charme was originally built during the 17th century and belonged to Sisto Riario Sforza, the last Archbishop of Naples in the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies of which Naples was the capital. In 2008 we embarked on a major refurbishment programme for the second floor, where the Hotel is placed. The hotel has now been fully restored and equipping with all the modern conveniences our guests expect. A wide lounge, decorated with golden stuccoes and mirrors, testifies the illustrious past of this residence. All of our 22 bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and feature the following: soundproof windows, flat screen Television with international channels, safe, minibar, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. The Decumani Hotel de Charme is located in the Decumani, in the heart of the old town originally a Greek "polis" and then a Roman "urbs", an area wich represents with its squares, streets and alleys, a unique historical, cultural and artistic heritage, as it is testified by the acknowledgment of Unesco, which in 1995 declared the historic centre of Naples " the biggest open-air museum in the world". ... more   less
