Hotel Palazzo Decumani

We spent one night at the Palazzo Decumani in late September, as we were enroute from Rome to Positano. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. The hotel is located on a narrow street in the middle of the historical centre.
Upon check-in, the attendant was very attentive, offering suggestions on where to eat, where to visit and which sections of the city to avoid. She accompanied us to our room and showed us all amenities. We found the room to be fairly large and comfortable. It was on the second floor and there is a lift.
The bar was not huge, however the atmosphere and waiter were excellent. At check-in, we were each provided with a free drink, which we used at the end of the night. The seating in the bar is very plush and comfortable.
The breakfast was a little dissapointing, as there were not many juice glasses on hand, the hot food was very limited (I scooped up the last of the eggs), etc. We showed up within the last 1/2 hour, therefore perhaps they stop replenishing at this time of day? We could see the staff in the back area, but they did not circulate very often.
On the night of our arrival, we walked up to one of the main streets in the historical centre and then made our way to the main shopping/walking street. We felt mainly comfortable until the shops started to close and the number of people dwindled. At that point, we grabbed some supper and headed back to the hotel. The next day, we walked along the waterfront area before leaving Naples for Positano.
In a city that's not as clean as some other Italian cities, this hotel was a breath of fresh air, which I would not hesitate to recommend.

We stayed in Palazzo Decumani for 3 nights in Septmeber. It is in the heart of the historic district with its narrow cobbled streets with just enough room for one small car to travel.
The hotel is great. It is clean, friendly and the rooms have huge high ceilings and are really spacious. Beds are really comfortable. The housekeeping staff are very attentive and if you get back to the hotel after a busy days site seeing, shower, get ready and go out, you will find fresh towels again on your return. Being in the centre of a city I was surprised how noiseless the hotel was - our room was on the second florr next to the lift entrance, facing the front, which would normally be associated with noise, however we hardly heard a noise the whole visit. Rubbish lorry one day but that was it.
The breakfast was a buffet with a couple of hot, but mostly cold items. It was fine.
The bar is staffed by the 'star of the show' a very attentive Salvatore - very friendly and welcoming. We arrived on the weekend of the San Gennaro Festival and he pointed out good things to see. We are not religious but it was all very interesting and the festivities took place a two minute walk round from the hotel at the Duomo.
The whole area is absolutely covered in graffiti, which can be a bit disconcerting at first, but once you get used to it and realise its just part of the culture then its ok. Even spotted a trendy shop selling cans of spray paint near the Duomo!!
I would recommend this hotel as it is small, safe, quiet, spotlessly clean, friendly and in a great location.

The floor and A/C vent were cotton like dusty, lobby/lounge area smells cigarette late at night. It would be easy to find if they had posted directions on the map from main transportation stations. Antonio was very nice at the front desk, but the girls could improve their customer service. Maybe Antonio could teach them. Breakfast was alright. Room felt like a box. The bathroom door would block the sink or the toilet, the doors had to be closed to fit you in the front of the sink. They should use pocket style door because the bathroom itself is a good size. It was close to little shopping and some pizza places. The whole historic center is dark, old in the sense that needs restoration and cleaning. The area is safe to walk around. We stayed in 16 hotels in this trip and this hotel here didn't impress us.

Room Tip: It has A/C, is located on historic center but hard to find, it doesn't look as good as the pictu...

We stayed for four nights in this beautiful hotel and used it as our base to visit Naples and doing day trips to Pompeii and the Amalfi coast. The staff especially Salvatore in the bar are very friendly. He looked after us very well with drinks and antipasti and gave us some great local restaurant tips so do not hesitate to ask him. We loved the location close to the old part of Naples as we could walk everywhere. I read in some reviews that some people felt unsafe walking in Naples but we did not feel that way at all. We loved the city and the crazy drivers and i know the rubbish is unsightly but he, this is Naples, raw and beautiful.

Spent 1 night in Naples after a week in Sorrento. The Palazzo Decumani was an oasis in Naples. Well situated for the Centro Storico.
Although we were only there 1night, we had a great experience! We were lucky enough to be upgraded on arrival to a superior room. The room was fantastic- spacious, modern decor, nice bathroom.
When we cashed in our free drink vouchers, provided at check-in, we were given some bar snacks too (olives, peanuts, mozzarella balls).
All the staff were friendly and extremely helpful and when we came back from dinner for a drink, they even gave us a dessert to share with our drinks.
We wished we had stayed longer and if we make a return trip, we would definitely book to stay at this hotel.

Tip- don't get confused with the other "Decumani" hotel.

My wife, brother-in-law and I recently returned from a vacation in Italy that included a 6-night stay at this wonderful hotel. The Decumani is right in the middle of Naples' vibrant centro storico, and many of the city's top sites are within easy walking distance, as are some fine restaurants. Yet, the hotel is on a quiet side-street and the rooms are evidently well-sound-proofed besides. Even our standard room was surprisingly large, and my brother-in-law's junior suite was enormous. The rooms are also very comfortable and tastefully furnished. The breakfast buffet was truly memorable, including a dazzling selection of local cheeses, fresh-baked bread, fresh fruit, etc. Moreover, the hotel staff was extremely friendly, and helpful with advice about sightseeing, transportation arrangements, and restaurant reservations. A fine value that would be hard to top anywhere! We hope to return again.

Room Tip: Sides rooms on the top floors are probably the quietest.
