“Good place but forgo the view if you want to sleep”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2010

We thought we were fortunate enough to get a room with a view - gorgeous view of Castel d'Ovo and the bay. Out on the terrace, we even had a view of the slopes of Vesuvius. The staff was very professional and friendly. The room itself very clean and well maintained - although the bathroom could possibly do with an update; it looked a bit 80's, even if everything was in excellent working order.

The location is right in front of the marina and about 10 min walk from the ferry/hydrofoil terminal, as well as some of the sights. However, if you want to get to most of the main sights, you will need to cab it as there is no bus or metro stop nearby.

The only thing we wish was better was sleep quality. The bed was a composite of twins and they weren't particularly comfortable. More problematic, however, was the noise from outside. Yes, you can hear your neighbors, but most of it gets drowned out by noise from the street. Even with the outside roll shade down, the noise from the traffic (cars, Vespas, and pedestrians) came through loud and clear. Ear plugs don't help either. We probably only got about 2 hours sleep each night. Things are quieter around 4-6 am...

While the staff were friendly and helpful, we asked for assistance several times with standard hotel needs (lost our comb/brush-do you have one? Can we get an iron and Iron board to touch up a shirt, etc.) and the answer seemed to be immediately "no." Otherwise, the hotel was beautiful and in an excellent location! As well, our luggage was lost and we received excellent help from friendly people in Naples (go see E.Marinella on Riviera di Chiaia if you need a shirt or tie!). Our room was huge and beautiful and the rooms, with a view, looked just like the internet photos! We ate a meal at the restaurant, had perfect weather, an amazing view, wonderful service, and the food was excellent!! We will return...hopefully soon.

We stayed at this hotel for an extended stay and, for the first three weeks were very happy with it. They gave us a larger than normal room. I did have to agree with one of the other reviews I read of this hotel- we could hear everything that went on in our neighbor's bathroom which was on the other side of our bedroom wall. Since my neighbor and I were both getting up at about 5:30 to go to work, not a problem for me but I felt sorry for the neighbor to my bathroom. The BIG safety issue came when the electricity went out right as we climbed on the elevator. There were no safety lights and no alarms or buttons. We banged on the elevator door and screamed but no one came to our aid. My husband managed to pry open the door and we found ourselves outside the breakfast room but the staff had shut the doors to the room where the elevator was located- doors that are normally kept open. I have a feeling this done was so our yelling would not disturb the other guests! Unfortunately, this soured my positive feelings for this hotel.

We stayed in Naples on our way to Ischia coming and going due to the ferry-time-tables. This 5 Star Hotel full-filled all our expectations: a room with a view, the friendly staff, excellent location etc.
Upon late arrival we could walk across the street to the little fishermen's village with lovely restaurants in a fairy-tale setting right in front of the big Castel dell'lOvo. We enjoyed the wonderful service at breakfast time and on our last night when we had dinner at the new appointed restaurant with a fantastic view at the Castel dell'Ovo.
I can highly recommend this hotel which feels like a palace and an oasis in the busy city of Napoli.

We had a 4 night stay here following 10 nights in the Palazzo Sasso hotel in Ravello (see review) . The hotel is in a great location overlooking the bay in one of the good locations in Naples; it’s close enough walk to most of the the main sites.
The Ravello hotel was so good we were worried we would be disappointed however I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised. It’s a large older building which was once very grand but this gives it a certain charm. As members of leading hotels we were upgraded to a fantastic corner suite overlooking the bay and Vesevio. Our room on the 7th floor was extremely large with 2 balconies and a huge comfy bed (one of the best I have ever slept in) . Breakfast was in one of their impressive grand rooms and was the usual type of Italian fayre.

We had a meal in the roof top restaurant which was good value as well as tasty food.
The staff were friendly and helpful to all of our requests, look out for Alexandro a waiter at breakfast he is a gem.

This is a good hotel, well situated and if we return to Naples we would be very happy to stay in this hotel.

Location is on waterfront directly across from castle and marina. Lots of good restaurants in the marina. We tried four of them and were not disappointed with any. The only real disappointment we had was with the hotel rooftop restaurant. You can't beat the view, but the marina restaurants serve better food (especially the one directly in front of the hotel across the street and down one level) at a better value. Surprisingly, the service was inferior too in the hotel restaurant. They made a couple of mistakes, tried to "bait and switch" us to another lesser choice when one of the errors was discovered and then ignored us when we tried to get attention to point out the other error.

The front desk staff was the opposite...very attentive and responsive, providing directions, advice and arranging for excursions as requested (we strongly suggest a visit to Capri!).

If you get a sea view, it will be as attractive as possible. The hotel has recently been upgraded and the rooms, though not large, are extremely comfortable and extremely well-fitted.
Highly recommended, as indeed is the restaurant.
