After reading about Museo Cappella Sansevero on TripAdvisor and in other publications, we decided to visit the museum. If we had not been determined to see it, however, we never would have found it. We walked right by it several times before actually discovering it. It’s almost as if the Neapolitans are trying to hide it and keep it for themselves. The sculpture of the veiled Christ is awe-inspiring/breathtaking/incredible and alone is worth the price of admission and the hassle of finding the museum. The beautiful frescoed ceiling and other sculptures in the museum are bonuses.

Down a back street, quite difficult to find, and even the locals do not seem to know about it! We even asked a local policeman and he didn't have a clue. However, it was worth it in the end. We admired the skill of the sculptor very much, and could not fail to be moved by his work. One of the not to be missed sights in Naples, in our opinion, another tick on our bucket list.
Closed on Tuesdays. Buy a postcard to remind you of your visit, as no photography is allowed.

I was determined to come here having seen photographs of the scuptures but nothing can prepare you for the real thing. There is only one main room but what is in it is perfection. The Veiled Christ is beyond belief. We stood gazing at him for a very long time. The other sculptures around the room are equally worthy of notice and the ceiling is magnificent. Fortunately they have mirrors in the floor so the ceiling can be examined without a cricked neck. The beautiful 3D effect is almost unbelievable. A small room at the side of the chapel has stairs leading down to another exhibit of 2 skeletons and their vein structure. Sounds a little gross but you must go and see this as they are not sure even today how it was done.

I have to admit that we paused a little bit at the 7E price for a chapel visit, but we went ahead based on the other reviews at Trip Advisor, and after walking inside the chapel there was no buyer's remorse.

The Capella is beautifully frescoed and they have put mirrors on the floor to allow visitors to view the ceiling without neck strain. The veiled Christ is absolutely incredible. The lady next to us was brought to tears as we stood over the intricate piece. The skill of the artist to detail out the look of cloth covering scarred hands, feet and his side speak to the mastery of the artist. Take some time to also marvel at the veiled statue to the left of the alter. In this piece the texturing of the marble cloth is intentionally more course like almost a sack cloth.

We found ourselves moved by the visit.

A must see: the veiled Christ is something that cannot be described or seen on a picture.
I spent the whole time I was in the chapel starting at the statue. There are plenty of things to see in the chapel and the mirrors on the floor help you appreciate all the frescos, but the veiled Christ itself is worth the entrance fee.
