After an exhausting flight to Naples,we pulled up to Hotel Miramare. From the moment we stepped foot onto the property we were made to feel welcome and well taken care of. Giussepe greeted us with a warm smile and offered us a sea view room if we waited 20 minutes at no extra charge.
The hotel has high ceilings and old world charm. We took the little elevator up to the room and were so pleased. It was tranquil with doors and shutters opening up on 2 sides with balcony's. Even the bathroom had the same doors and balcony. This was a large bathroom w/toiletries,slippers,bathrobes,many towels, tub & shower w/jets on the side.
The room had cable and wireless airport.
The view of the Bay of Naples from the balcony is tremendous. So beautiful and late at night(jet lag) it's pretty much the make-out spot for some young Neapolitans.
The owner was so sweet when we came in from walking around town. He introduced himself and is clearly proud of his hotel(he should be). He offered us a welcoming drink of prosecco.
Breakfast on the rooftop was stunning. Flowers, umbrellas over the tables and a fantastic breakfast spread.Great service and delicious omelette(shared),cappuccino, fabulous cheeses, meats and pasteries was the best. This is a beautiful hotel with perfect hospitality, great location and comfort in every way.
The next morning we walked 10-15 minutes along the water to the ferry.
I want to go back to Naples and I will stay here.No question.

The hotel Miramare is located by the port and the view is amazing! Since we were taking a boat to Sorrento, we decided to stay close by the port. We were so happy that we were staying by the ocean, since the Naples station area was dirty, smelly, and not safe at all.

The owner of the hotel greeted with welcome drinks and upgraded us for free:-) The room was facing the ocean, had cable TV (free), bathrobe, slippers, and it was very comfortable. Not sure about the wifi...

We paid 10 EURO for taxi from the station to the hotel. The main shopping area was walking distance (10-15 minute?). The port to take a boar for Sorrento and Capri was 5minute by cab.

The hotel staff made us very comfortable, and were welcoming:-)
We'll definitely stay here again if we come back to Naple!

This hotel is a small property with charm. The staff were helpful, the breakfasts authentic, fresh and delicious. It is served on their rooftop garden, but we were only able to do that one day as it was a bit chilly in March.
The room was very cramped, with barely enough room to walk around the bed. With 2 suitcases on luggage stands, it was really a juggling act. The room smelled a bit funky when the windows were left closed. Fortunately, the weather permitted us to leave them open, but then we had to content with outside noise. Our room faced the side street, whack did not take advantage of the sea view. For what we paid, we should have had the view.
The locatio. Was great formwalking near,y everywhere, and feeling safe. By safe, we mean we didn't fear for bodily harm, but watch out for vehicular traffic. Traffic rules are rarely followed nor enforced so you take life in your hands every time you cross a street!
The hotel staff were helpful with recommendations for restaurants and the like.
We chose to stay in Naples as a good jumping off point to see Pompeii and the Amalfi coast drive, but don't miss out on Naples destinations. Take the funicular up and down the hills and visit residential neighborhoods. They are impressive and the views are beautiful up in the hills. The only sad thing is the amount if graffiti on monuments. The city is gritty, but we liked that about it.
Food in Naples is superb. Don't miss the pizza, pastry and gelato and make sure the pizza is made in a coal fired oven.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view

The Miramare hotel is located in Santa Lucia, a nice neighborhood on the sea front. It is close to many good restaurants and to the Piazza del Plebiscito. As Naples is not very big, you can easily walk to most of the attractions of the city in less than 30 minutes.

The hotel in itself is a bit old fashioned (nice victorian house, with funritures everywhere, an old elevator, big keys instead of keycards, no room service or gym, etc.), but so charming. It is a nice alternate to all the Novotel, Radisson, Sheraton, NH, etc... I usually stay at during my business trips.
What really makes it worth is the quality of the service : you really feel that it is a family operated hotel, with the hosts always trying to improve your stay, give your personnal advice, arrange visits for you, etc..
When the weather is good (which means most of the time) breakfast is taken on the roof top, and the view is absolutely amazing. I am really gonna miss taking my coffee while watching the sun slowly rising above the Vesuvio.

However, be aware that the rooms are quite small, and noisy but this is common in Naples....
