pros
-Arriving at Naples, I was disappointed at the surroundings...especially when we arrived at the hotel we first booked. We were sent here instead (taxi provided) for reasons I wasn't sure of. Albeit a bit far from the main train station, the hotel is the most beautiful building in the area. (cleanest to look at :D )
-Clean cozy room, awesome bathroom and big two-door window that's so lovely to look out to in the morning. (bigger road side than the cramped alley) It wasn't noisy even on this side.
-There's a tabacchi by it so you can buy stuff easily....even bus and train tickets.
-Naples is not very clean so coming to this clean hotel after hours of being it is such big comfort!

cons
- Wi-fi is not easy to come by but we survived.
-Breakfast was ok but, there's a snobbish server (lol).
-Cramped elevators and stairs.

Aside from these, it's a lovely hotel all in all.

We have just come back from 4 nights in Naples staying here. As indicated by another reviewer, we booked to stay at Suite Esedra which is owned by the same manager/company, but we were advised that they couldn't accomodate us and we were being moved to this hotel. We had booked Suite Esedra on the advice of some friends who had stayed there previously. They did organise a taxi for us, but we were pretty disappointed on arrival:

- we were travelling with our kids and had booked what we had been told was a family room. Our understanding was that it would be 2 interconnecting rooms, but at Ferdinando II we were all 4 crammed into one room. There wasn't much room left, and no where in the hotel to go once the kids had gone to bed - we asked if we could use the breakfast room area, but were told that we could not. There are a couple of ice cream bars outside the hotel but we didn't feel comfortable with this.

The hotel is in a terrible location for sightseeing in Naples - a good 15 minutes walk from the main train station or from the nearest metro stations up the via Foria. There is only one restaurant really close to the hotel and it's a schlep into the Centro Storico

In terms of the room itself there were no tea and coffee making facilities (which are advertised), the wi fi in our room was patchy to say the least, and the 'international TV stations' was MTV. The air conditioning was hit and miss too, and despite curtains, the lights from outside the windows (part of the hotel) meant that it was always lighter in the room than we would have liked.

The hotel was clean and the shower in the room was lovely. The breakfast was OK. This is NOT a 4 star hotel by English standards, though, and it's misleading to say that it is.

We originally pre-paid to stay at HOTEL SUITE ESEDRA, but upon arrival there we were told that they did not have rooms available. A taxi was called to transfer us to this hotel. We liked this hotel even better as it was located on the central road not on the back alley like the first hotel and seemed more modern and spacious. It is within 15-20 minutes walk form the train station and old city center. Also same distance to archeological museum. The rooms were clean and larger than many rooms we stayed in while in Europe with large bathroom and nice shower. The only issue I had with this hotel is that smoking was allowed on our floor and I could smell the smoke in the hallway and also in the room which I do not enjoy.

We stayed three nights in late September. The hotel is indeed a good 15-minute walk to sights such as the Archaeological Museum, and a good deal farther to the port area, but we had an early flight on a Monday morning and wanted to be sure we didn't get caught in traffic. The bus stop for downtown, though, is right in front of the hotel. There's really only one restaurant relatively close (A Figlia do Marenaro, which itself gets average reviews), plus a few pizzerias. Our room facing the main street was quiet, and the room was clean. An earlier review led us to believe that the staff spoke excellent English. That was not the case during our stay, so perhaps those staff members have moved on. Some staff had some English; others were not much help. BTW, there is a good Ukrainian restaurant fairly close (Kobaulka Bababa), but I had to draw on my limited Italian and some Russian, as they spoke no English at all. We would stay at this hotel again the night before an early airport departure, but if staying multiple days we'd stay at a more convenient location until that last night.

I was quite happy with the hotel, but there are a few things you should know that are misleading on their website:
1 - the hotel is in quite an inconvenient location, to the north east of the city centre. It is about a 15 minute walk to the central train station, and 20 minutes to the old town
2 - the hotel has wi-fi (it was included in the price when I booked), but the signal is terrible. I stayed in two different rooms and in both you had to basically sit by the door to get a connection. It's not a big issue, but the hotel sells itself as a business hotel and as such needs to improve its internet quality
3 - the night staff are quite friendly, but the day staff were not particularly helpful. They couldn't direct us to a good place to change currency (we were told any bank would change money for us, but neither of the two closest to the hotel actually would), wouldn't answer clearly whether it was safe to park our car on the road behind the hotel, and the restaurant recommendation they provided was pretty poor

All up it wasn't a bad stay. The rooms and breakfast area are quite nice, but it is definitely not 4-star hotel (more like a European 2.5-star or European 3-star).

Room Tip: Rooms on the side of the main entrance can be quite loud.
