“A Decent Place to Stay - for Business, not Pleasure”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

This is a typical Marriott Hotel in the heart of a city. It is what you expect from a Marriott. Decent lobby, the room is nice (especially for Italy), clean, up-to-date, and good size. It is walking distance to the main shopping street and the Mediterranean. The hotel staff is very accommodating (although I had to wait a few minutes for them to play tour guide for a couple tourists). The best part of the hotel is the rooftop breakfast (maybe available for dinner too). The view is magnificent...you can see Mt. Vesuvius. A great hotel to stay for a business trip in the city. I would stay somewhere else for a vacation.

Dear CoachRey,

we would like to thank you for taking the time and trouble to posting a comment regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We really appreciate your opinion and we thank you for your candid feedback as we believe there is always improvement to be pursued.

We wish to thank you so much for the your appreciation concerning our cleanliness and the friendly attitude of our staff.
We regret that you do not consider our hotel ideal for a vacation as far as its location in the heart of city makes it a favorite destination for visiting the Neapolitan sights. Infact the hotel is just steps from the main shopping street, Via Toledo, and it provides easy access to some of the most interesting historic and artistic works of Naples, including the Castel Nuovo, the magnificent Palazzo Reale which overlooks the scenic Piazza del Plebiscito.

Dear CoachRey, I hope you will have the chance to host you at Renaissance Naples again thus giving you an more exceptional experience on your next visit.

Anna at the front desk was extremely helpful and knowledgable. Apparently when confirming my 2 room reservation with marriott, they made an additional reservation for 2 rooms- so we ended up with 4. Anna took care of it for which I am very appreciative.
Family rooms have 2 queens and 2 bathrooms which is very nice and unusual from what we have seen of European hotels. They were clean and look very new.
Washcloths and complimentary toiletry items, slippers and robes provided.
Breakfast was very nice but the breakfast terrace and view is AMAZING! What a gorgeous view of the bay and the surrounding buildings.
The front desk, housekeeping, breakfast staff, and doormen were all very friendly and helpful.
You can walk to the ferry/hydrofoil from here if you don't have much luggage or small children. It is a few blocks and you cross a couple busy streets.
Ride from train station took about 10-15 min via taxi. Be watchful of non-licensed taxi drivers. Get a taxi from the taxi area.

Lovely hotel and hope to return.

Location was excellent for taking in the main part of the city. You could walk anywhere within minutes. The hotel was clean and nice. Nothing spectacular but the location said it all. Breakfast was usual European style but OK. We were on a tour so didn't dine at the hotel but restaurants were all around the hotel, from low to high priced. A cute outdoor market place was across the street that fun to browse with the locals.

Room Tip: Do not get a room on the front as it tends to lots of street noise.

We just returned from a 6 night stay at the Renaissance Mediterraneo. Both our rooms on 7th floor were large and very comfortable, air conditioning worked great, huge king size beds, extremely clean, and very nicely decorated. From our corner room (712) we had a fabulous view of the port and the Vesuvius, the other one had a street view, but as other have mentioned the view from the breakfast terrace is outstanding!

Great location: the port was at 7-8 mins of walking, very convenient to take the ferry to the islands (Capri, Ischia, Procida), and the Toledo subway was 5 mins of walking. Toledo street right around the corner.

We found the front desk staff very friendly and informative of the area, especially Anna! They have the ferry schedules, can make recommendations of beaches and other activities.
Internet worked great, and I think it was free (although I am a gold rewards member, but we were not asked for room number or anything when logging in).

The only point that this hotel needs to work on is the breakfast food and the breakfast service. There are fresh fruit at breakfast, but I found the kiwis impossible to cut with the cutlery provided, and why have canned peaches when the streets were full of amazing peaches from the area! Also, the last day the eggs were impossible to eat, way too salty, nobody is tasting the food?
We also found the breakfast service to be slow, one morning we were totally ignored for like 10 minutes, without plates and cutlery (the food is a buffet but they still have to bring you napkins etc), until I went to mention this to the manager on duty (Gianni Botta), who was busy talking on his cell phone.

We did not use the jacuzzi, two days it was scalding hot and the control panel did not work, the other days we did not have time as there are so many things to do in the area.

But these are minor niggles overall, the hotel is really outstanding from every other point of view, and I totally recommend it. It was a pleasure coming in from the busy streets of Napoli, an air conditioned, comfortable oasis!

One more thing, as I was doing the check out the cleaning lady phoned the front desk from one of our rooms as she had found our GPS in the safety box, so a big thank you to her (I did not take her name)!

Dear Montreal_traveller09,

thank you so much for your candid feedback, it is an very important opportunity to improve our services and increase our guests' satisfaction.

We are really pleased that you enjoyed the polite and friendly attitude of our front office staff, because it shows that we made the right choices to achieve the satisfaction of our customers and we thank you as well for appreciating standards of cleanliness observed in our rooms and the strategic position of the hotel in the heart of Naples.

Thank you for appreciating our breakfast service during your stay except for one day, but we are certain it was the exception and not the rule. We will take in serious consideration your suggestions about food offerings at the buffet; nevertheless we want to make sure you that in the future we will expand and we will take care our offer even more.

Dear Montreal_traveller09, we hope we will have the chance to host you at Renaissance Naples again thus giving you an even more exceptional experience on your next visit.

Spent one night at the Renaissance on our way back from Ischia prior to flying back to Manchester the next day. Really first class hotel with great service and rooms. Handy to the port and old Naples which we toured on our first afternoon. If I had a complaint it would be an executive room with plastic cups for the coffee machine.

Room Tip: Take your own cups.

We have just returned from a 6 night stay at this hotel (on my husband's Marriott points) and were very happy with our trip. The hotel is excellently located just a short stroll from Via Toledo (main shopping street), the port (trips to Capri, Sorrento etc.), the seafront promenade and the old city. The 10th floor solarium with hot-tub, sun-loungers and chairs provided a welcome location for an afternoon rest after morning walking trips and the 11th floor breakfast room set each day off to a great start. The range of breakfast items suited us mostly, although I was a little disappointed that the hotel didn't make full use of the beautiful fresh fruit available in the area.Tinned fruit in an Italian city? We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant during our stay as there were so many other more atmospheric places to go. Had they made better use of the 11th floor facilities we almost certainly would have given it a go. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, and well insulated against the heat too as we rarely needed the air-con for more than an hour or so. Staff in the breakfast room were very welcoming, despite being busy most mornings and the reception staff were most helpful in loaning a travel adapter free of charge when ours failed to work. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for it's comfort, roof terraces and location.
