If we had booked more than one night we certainly would not have stuck around for it...
Terribly outdated. It may have been nice at one time. This place is meager at best. Apparently, stars in Europe do not translate to US standards.
Admittedly a tough critic but this hotel wasn't even close

Traditional four stars hotel in an ancient villa with antique furniture with splendid vew over the bay ;half way up Vomero hill.
It is not the hotel for who likes modern.
Garden with tropical plants.

This is a nice hotel. The breakfast was good, the room and the bathroom was so big and always clean! :)
And the view from the balcony, was really really nice!!!!!
Tipp: you have to pay for the parking (15 EUR/day).
The staff was helpness, and kind.

Not so much a gem as a fossil.

If you like to feel you have fallen through a timewarp then this is the place for you. The restaurant menu reads like a cordon bleu cookbook from the 1970s. Unfortunately this date was also the most recent that they washed the curtains.

Service: the staff try, but there's only so much they can do.

Four stars? I don't know how they did that!

I won't be going back

We had an overnight stay at this hotel before catching a flight out of Naples. This hotel was formerly a private residence built for the mistress of Ferdinand 1. It is quiet and elegant with antique furniture and large rooms. The cost of the accommodation was also excellent.
The hotel is not right in the very centre of Naples but is only a short walk to the Funiculare Chiari so you can take that and connect with the Funiculare Centrale to get to the centre of town. Alternatively, a taxi is only about €7, or you can walk (downhill) to the waterfront quite easily in about 15 minutes.

We have stayed many times at the Britannique hotel, always finalizing our annual vacation at the Amalficoast, with a couple of days in Naples.

The hotel has many issues one might find worthy of complaining about. However! This grand old lady with all her wrinkles has the magic of age and history. She may need a full facial and massive surgury, I however enjoy her magic and charisma like she is.

If you truly open you eyes, you will find beautiful details. Antique furniture, lamps in Murano glass, marble floors....... and a true historic feeling "in the walls"

The location is fantastic, to say the least. The Britannique is located on the hill bordering the city with the district of Vomero, offering a splendid view of Naples. Yet only 10 minutes walking distance from the fashionable shopping district of Chaia.

Enjoy a fine cigar , late at night on your private balcony (most rooms have one) taking in the wonderful view o of night time Naples. Get up in the morning overlooking the city and get a glimpse of Capri in the horizon. ............

Issues of the buildings wear and tear, need of restoration, uggly bathrooms, lacks in service an sometimes weird staff members makes the experience yet more "Napolitani"

Open your eys and take the challenge. The low price of decent rooms is surely woth it.

This hotel is situated in the Vomero district of Naples and there are great views from here. Although served by buses and the nearby funicular, there are few restaurants very close to the hotel. This is a disadvantage if you've been out all day and don't want to travel too far again for an evening meal.
The hotel rooms are reasonably comfortable but rather basic and certainly not four star! The continental breakfast was the most basic I have had in many years, and again does not justify four stars. The fruit salad had always run out by 8.30am leaving little more than juice, bread rolls, and coffee (or tea).
The staff and hotel reception were polite and helpful at all times.
Its a good location if you don't mind schlapping a bit, and in view of what I paid represents good value for money, despite these criticisms.

We liked to hotel so much; old fashioned house, antique furnitures and a breathtaking panorama from the room.
At the front desk were very helpful to solve all our little problems and very warm people.
We reccomend this hotel and will return at Britannique for next visit to Naples.
