stay at this hotel started out poorly but was actually quite good after that. When shown our room we were very disappointing, it was small, smelled musty and mildewed and was dark and dank. After requesting a better room I was reminded I ordered an "economy" room online and that was what I got. Once we paid up for a better room we were moved up a floor and given a sea vies with a balcony were were quite satisfied with the room. The food at the restaurant was very good but the wait staff are not very friendly, Front desk staff were very helpful with tours and information,

I am in the tourism industry and needed to fly out of Naples. I had researched many of the hotel locations and was well aware of the crime issues associated with much of the hotels centrally located. I chose this hotel because it had good reviews and was not near the train station. The hotel itself is quite nice, beautiful scenery from the seaview rooms and dining areas. There is transportation to central city, but other than that nothing is convenient as far as dining or shopping.
My biggest complaints were the hidden charges. The hotel stated transportation available, surcharge may apply. Well the surcharge is 35 euros from the train station to the hotel and again from the hotel to the airport. Another issue had was breakfast was included with the seaview rooms as they were the most expensive. However when you checked out they charge an 18 euro beverage charge for the breakfast.
I also felt the staff was arrogant and not accomodating as the hotel staff I had in Rome and Sorrento. If you want a hotel that you feel safe with beautiful views this is a good selection, just be aware of the hidden charges.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms worth spending the extra to enjoy the view.

I stayed here for a short business trip and my stay was excellent. Location is perfect if you are interested in enjoying the fantastic views of the Bay of Naples. Rooms were not big, but comfortable in every term. Buffet breakfast was excellent!! Access to a computer and wi fi in the lobby and restaurant area was a big advantage for me. All the staff members co-operated very well. This place will be my first & preferable choice whenever I visit the city again.

I stayed in a no-view Single Room on the 2nd floor (#202) and friends with 2 young children had a larger adjacent room with two beds (#201). The property is built on a hillside with an alley space between the building and the hill. Our rooms faced the alley space.

We had a late flight into NAP airport and by the time we collected our rental car, it was well past midnight. We had quite a challenge finding our way to the hotel despite coming prepared with directions and maps. It took 3 adults (with 2 sleepy kids in car seats) to navigate Naples and the very narrow – sometimes one-way only – residential streets of Posillipo Hill. We ended up circling the neighborhood 2 to 3 times due to missing a turn in the dark.

Once at the hotel, we managed to squeeze into a very tight parking space curbside. Alternatively, there is a public parking garage down the block. The fee for the parking garage is not covered by the hotel.

Reception was not overly friendly but perhaps the 1:00 AM hour had something to do with that. Our rooms were clean and basic. The Single Room is the size of a stateroom on a cruise ship – just fine for a solo guest. We only slept a few hours before continuing on with our itinerary to the Sorrento Peninsula. The included breakfast on the open-air rooftop patio was plentiful with assorted pastries, fruit, beverages, etc.

The view of the Gulf of Naples with Vesuvius in the backdrop is indeed stunning. A wonderful sight to welcome us to Italy on our first morning!

5 stars for the view from the rooftop.

I stayed at the hotel while visiting Naples with a group of friends. If I return to Naples, I would definitely consider staying here again. The price is excellent for the quality of the hotel, the easy access to the city center, and the amazing view. The rooms are simple but clean and big. I did not have a view but others in my group did and I think that paying extra for a room with a view is definitely worth it! Naples Bay, the city lights, and Mt Vesuvius are beautiful at all times of the day/night. You really can not beat the view! The breakfast was good as long as you got there early. We had dinner at the restaurant a few times and although it was a bit pricey the food was very good. The service overall at the hotel was excellent and the front desk was always available to assist us with directions, recommendations, or to call a taxi. The funicular is a quick walk from the hotel and takes you right down to the waterfront to walk around, shop, and eat.

Stayed here two nights last week. We paid extra for a sea view room and - WOW - amazing! The room looked right over the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius in the distance. It was spectacular. You must book one of these rooms - well worth the extra money.

The distance from the Old Town and attractions is a bit of an issue but the hotel staff are helpful and directed us to the funicular railway about 200 metres up the road which takes you down to a nice seaside area which has great restaurants and cafes. Note: tickets are only available from a machine at the top - which works only periodically - so have change. If you're taking it from the bottom, the ticket machine is in a really obscure spot across the street near parked cars. Ask a local to show you - they're really helpful.

The breakfast in the hotel was excellent - lots of variety, hot and cold food and great coffee. They will make you cappucinos if you ask. The room was clean, bathroom nice and water pressure excellent.

The hotel is a bit out of the way - but the view is well worth the 25 euro taxi fare from the central train station. Also, central Naples is a bit on the seedy side and this hotel is far away from all that.

We booked 4 rooms, family and friends traveling together. Rooms had fantastic views and were tidy and neat. Staff were very helpful and efficient. The local restaurants recommended were good value and access to the promenade was easy. It was a pleasure to stay there.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view are worth paying extra for

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
BEST WESTERN Hotel Paradiso, situated on Posillipo Hill, enjoys a spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples, with Vesuvius as a backdrop.Within just 2,500 metres may be found: the San Paolo Stadium, the Mostra D’oltremare exhibition centre, the University of Federico II di Monte Sant’Angelo, the railway station and the Campi Flegrei subway stop. From many rooms, and certainly from our “Terrazza Paradiso" restaurant, following the line of the coast you see Castel dell'Ovo, built around the year 1000 on a small island of tufaceous rock named Megaris. This is where - legend has it - the siren Parthenope, enchanted by the beauty of the surroundings, constructed the city of Naples. Descending the hill, in a few minutes one arrives at the marina of Mergellina and, 200 metres after that, at the subway station. From here there is a good connection to the old city centre and to the central station, from where it is possible, in around 20 minutes, to reach the sites of Ercolano and Pompei. Also on Posillipo Hill, around 2 km from the hotel, and at the end of the incredibly scenic Via Petrarca, is Virgiliano Park with its green areas and wide terraces that look out onto a sheer view of the Marechiaro Sea, and with a clear view of the little island of Nisida. This is a sight of rare beauty for those who love walking or jogging far away from traffic. The rooms, the meeting rooms, and the scenic restaurant with its Mediterranean cuisine and the warm welcome of its staff, all act as guarantees of a pleasant holiday or business trip. ... more   less
