“Don't go to this hotel”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

Where to start... Don't go to this hotel! Rooms are small, airco doesn't work in May due to cost savings, partities/weddings from locals that will keep you up all night, breakfast is really bad, staff not very friendly, terrible internet connection, far away from city center, restaurant and roof terrace blocked for parties/weddings from locals, just 1 other restaurant nearby, small bathroom, view from the room to a blind wall, netc. We left the hotel after 2 day completely exhausted and were happy to leave this place.

Room Tip: You will regret if you book this hotel....

Dear Sir,

We are disappointed to receive a review such as this.

All suggestions are taken on board but we would appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention immediately, during your stay.

This time at the Hotel Paradiso was not a good experience but can only reassure you that we consider all comments to continually improve our service.

We are in a period following renovations, soon our hotel and restaurant will offer a very accurate service with modern , lighting and silent rooms with sea view.

Now ,thanks to your kind reporting, the free wi fi connection is working perfectly like
the system of air conditioning is fully functional and regulated from their room

Hope to welcome you once again at the hotel Paradiso

Best Wishes

This hotel does have the best view of Naples and Vesuvius. However, that is the best thing going for it. It seems every room in the place suffers from noise of every other guest or staff member, wether it be people talking or showering or walking.
The breakfast was a little disappointing. The lazy chef would not replenish eggs with an hour and a half left of breakfast time. Thankfully, the management team were trying very hard to compensate for the inadequacies of some of the lazy staff and infrastructure of the hotel. The majority of the staff in the restaurant are trying very hard. However, they had their work cut out when dealing with the chef who couldn't even produce a cooked pork steak; 3 meals had to be sent back, not once, but twice!
Overall, you have half the staff working twice as hard to accommodate for the lazy staff. I would not stay in this place for any longer than a day in future. Still, in fairness, it does have the best view in Naples.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else. The four rooms we had were all noisy. Definitely avoid the rooms under recept...

We had booked 2 rooms with sea view. What we got were rooms with a view on a wall not even on the sea side. The only reason we booked this hotel was because of the reviews we read about the views from this place. We booked a one night stay and paid extra for a sea view. We complained at the front desk and they said they couldn't do anything to better accommodate us. Not worth the price for a no sea view. Most of the rooms wiht a sea view on the third floor were under construction no doors and people working in the rooms.
We would expect from a four star house to be informed about these circumstances even as we had booked the rooms directly at the hotel by phone.

During the Christmas Holidays, we had guests in town and wanted to treat them to the best of Italy and Campania. My in-laws were awe struck by the view of Vesuvius, towering in the distance and the islands of Capri and Ischia sparkling in the distance. The two days we spent at the Paradiso were magical. The service was second to none and every one was so friendly, polite and extremely accommodating. The restuarant was probably my favorite. We ordered the seafood lunch and dinners both days. I can safely say that our experience with the staff and the cuisine was one of those rare times when a special moment was created and to be cherished for a lifetime. If I have one complaint, it is that the time passed too quickly. Thank you for the memory.

Room Tip: Ask for a tour before deciding

I found this hotel is better for tourist, not for a business traveller like me.
If you plan to visit Napoli with your wife then you should stay here in the top floor where you can see the vulcano & sea from your bed :-)
The breakfast was awesome, internet was free here and speed was not bad.
BUT, I had trouble to get power connection for my laptop as this hotel could not give me a multi-power option :-(

Room Tip: Better to select seaview rooms in the lobby floor

The only reason I booked this hotel was because of the reviews I read about the views from this place. I booked a one night stay and paid extra for a sea view. Unfortunately, the hotel does not state that for floors 1 you have no sea view and the 2nd floor has a partial sea view. I was given a room on the 2nd floor with a view of another building and half view of the sea. I complained at the front desk and they said they couldn't do anything to better accommodate us. Not worth the price for a 1/2 sea view. If you book at this place, make sure you receive a room located on the 3rd or 4th floor so you can get a complete sea view and get what you pay extra for! Also, the shower head was broken in my room!

Room Tip: make sure you request a room on the 3rd or 4th floor to insure you receive a FULL sea view.

We were a bit nervous about staying at this hotel after reading some very negative reviews. Our experience was extremely positive. The service, the room and the breakfast were just fine. As others have repeatedly said the views are breathtaking and make this a great location for a visit to Naples.
Our only disappointment was nothing to do with the hotel: we found Naples to be extremely filthy and neglected. This could be such a great city because it has so much to offer in both its Bay Area, and historical Centre, and, has marvellous attractions nearby. We would return to this part of Italy but would stay somewhere on the Amalfi coast instead of Naples - what a waste of a potentially great city.

Room Tip: Pay extra for sea view. Well worth it

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
BEST WESTERN Hotel Paradiso, situated on Posillipo Hill, enjoys a spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples, with Vesuvius as a backdrop.Within just 2,500 metres may be found: the San Paolo Stadium, the Mostra D’oltremare exhibition centre, the University of Federico II di Monte Sant’Angelo, the railway station and the Campi Flegrei subway stop. From many rooms, and certainly from our “Terrazza Paradiso" restaurant, following the line of the coast you see Castel dell'Ovo, built around the year 1000 on a small island of tufaceous rock named Megaris. This is where - legend has it - the siren Parthenope, enchanted by the beauty of the surroundings, constructed the city of Naples. Descending the hill, in a few minutes one arrives at the marina of Mergellina and, 200 metres after that, at the subway station. From here there is a good connection to the old city centre and to the central station, from where it is possible, in around 20 minutes, to reach the sites of Ercolano and Pompei. Also on Posillipo Hill, around 2 km from the hotel, and at the end of the incredibly scenic Via Petrarca, is Virgiliano Park with its green areas and wide terraces that look out onto a sheer view of the Marechiaro Sea, and with a clear view of the little island of Nisida. This is a sight of rare beauty for those who love walking or jogging far away from traffic. The rooms, the meeting rooms, and the scenic restaurant with its Mediterranean cuisine and the warm welcome of its staff, all act as guarantees of a pleasant holiday or business trip. ... more   less
