“Excellent Hotel - Great location.”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

Excellent hotel in a very nice location, very close to the Beverello port (hydrofoils to Capri and Amalfi coast) and walking distance from Piazza Plebiscito, Chiaia and Lungomare.

Room was very nicely decorated with 'Artemide' lights, excellent powerful AC (very important for Naples in the summer), very comfortable bed, great TV channels selection on a large flat screen tv, nice bathroom with powerful showerhead.

We had a nice room on the 6th floor overlooking the vomero hill. Room was very quiet and the windows offered great soundproofing from the busy street below.

Room was clean and staff were helpful.

The only problem I had was that I couldnt get a wifi signal in our room.
I got the free password from the reception but my iPhone 5 couldnt locate the network at all.
(I didnt look into it further because I didnt really need it. If I had asked for help, maybe it would have been resolved)

Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would defintely recommend this hotel!

Good location, close to the train station. Rooms are rather average. Not sure how they got a 4 star rating, maybe it is the big name. Staff spoke little English but tried to help, as we spoke no Italian. Most disappointing that we booked the 'what if' surprise deal supposedly saving a considerable amount of money, only to find when we booked an additional night it was only a difference of 7 euro. Also the mini bar had nothing in it and no china cups for tea and coffee.

We chose to stay at the Mercure Naples before boarding a cruise in Naples. For our purposes this was perfect. The hotel is about 2 blocks from the cruise terminal and requires crossing only 1 street. The hotel was very clean with a very friendly staff. The area around the hotel was very clean, with a lot of cafe's for dinner or lunch. The hotel has a very nice roof-top patio for breakfast that has a great view of Castle Nuovo and an excavation that is also an apparent archeological dig. There are also a number of other sights close to the hotel if you want to wander.

Easy to find; pleasant English speaking staff; decent rooms, toilets + fittings.

I was there for 3 days with 2 of my sons - both in their 20s. I had hired a car at the airport - and the hotel was easy enough to find. Park off the street - it will cost 5 Euros for 24 hours but is worth it. There is a place in the sidestreet directly opposite the hotel.

The reception staff spoke English - and were helpful enough.

Rooms were adequate size and clean. Good value.

I had breakfast once - the breakfast room is a bit of a trudge through accommodation. The coffee is actually not that good - surprisingly. The othe two days I hooked up with my sons in the wee caffe across the road that did better coffee and a selection a sweet pastries - and enabled me to sit on the pavement and watch everyone pass by - I felt like a real Italian.

Not much happening on the sea front - as it was Naples I was expecting (as a seafarer) bars and hookers and music and general deprevation. Nowt. Just ferry terminals. Dont waste your time, head on into town where you will find many wee bars and restaurants - directly across the road and keep going.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel last week following a cruise and needed a few nights before our flight back to Ireland. Hotel was nice, rooms probably a bit above average for Naples; glad we didn't have a room overlooking the on-going roadworks - indeed the room we were allocated had no view at all, but I think this was blessing, as the traffic all round the hotel is chaotic and 24 hours non-stop. It's close to the main shopping area Via Toledo, but a good walk in to the centre of Naples, which in the evening can be a bit intimidating. Staff were very helpful, and well used to dealing with English speaking visitors (we are Irish) All in all a fairly good location, and very clean. Air conditioning was excellent and not noisy at all.
