We returned to the Majestic recently for three nights. We didn't get a warm greeting - actually there was no greeting whatsoever! It's not that kind of place. It's a business hotel and rather low on charm. But the superior room was a decent size with a large(ish) bathroom and a nice view to Vesuvius and even Capri when the weather was clear. Nice king-size bed, firm mattress, TV with Sky News. Wifi for a hefty charge. Breakfast is not good value (10 euros which these days is 10 pounds) so we mostly took that in nearby bars and pastry shops. The neighbourhood is a little noisy at night but convenient for shopping on the via Chiaia and also great local restaurants - especially the Osteria Tonino a block west, and La Locanda just two blocks west. Next time we might try a boutique hotel as this place is a bit on the "cold" side.
