What it says on the tin, budget accommodation to explore Naples!

We had one of the back bedrooms over looking...well nothing but other windows and rubbish. the room was clean and well maintained although the bathroom was very tiny, and no where to store/hold a toilet roll so I had to keep it in the bedroom to avoid getting it soaked by the shower.

The staff were lovely and helpful and the hotel looked clean. Breakfast was adequate although did not serve anything fresh which was very surprising.

The hotel was not in a nice area of town, and in the evenings I felt very vulnerable walking down the streets to get back to the hotel despite having my husband with me. Particularly when we took a wrong turn one night. I wouldn't recommend being out alone or even an all girl group in this area.

The hotel was secure with a buzz entry system and two heavy duty doors. All in all its a good hotel to explore the city!!

Really good value for money. The whole hotel was nicely presented and the staff really friendly. Having free internet was great, though it was on the slow side. Breakfast was a little too sweet but it was included. Fantastic for those on a smaller budget wanting to explore the local sites, and it's so close to the train station. Stayed January 2011.

The central train station at Napoli is chaotic or nightmarish, depending upon your interpretation. To get across the streets here, you have to use the South East Asia method, you simply walk out and drivers would drive around you or try to avoid you. There r many opportunists here & so, u got to put on a brave or poker face the whole time or else, u would be taken for a ride (pun intended). For travellers out there who r heading to Pompeii, Sorrento, Vesuvius & to get connecting trains to major centres, it's wise to base yourself close to the Central Station despite that it's seedy & not somewhere that u want to hang around in especially in the evening. Hotel Zara is located on the 2nd & 3rd floor, off from the Central Station. The Front Office has to buzz you in. For light sleepers, u want to be as far away as possible from the Front Desk because u would be awakened by the buzzers who wanted to get in till late in the evening. I stayed at the cheapest room (without bathroom & toilet facility). I didn't mind that at all but because almost all hotels in Italy has hard surface for everything, noise channels through very easily. The sound insulation between rooms is mediocre at best. You can even hear the whispers. Wi-fi is excellent. Power points r adequate. There's one desktop available for guests. Front office speaks good English. I find the hotel adequate for my needs. For those of you who need to check out earlier, do come to an arrangement with the staff because there won't be anybody manning the place until close to 8am when breakfast is served. The hotel is locked otherwise. That means people can't come in & u can't go out. Commendable stay.

Room Tip: For light sleepers, request the room to be away from the Front Desk because the manager there has to...

You cannot expect a lot for this money in city center, but hotel was in general nice. The room was spacious and clean and internet was for free - and that is all that I needed for 2 nights single stay. The staff was amazing - very very nice and helpful. It is hard to say about localization - it was convenient as close to the train station, what was important to me, but not very safe - although after visiting this city I doubt if there is any safe and nice location...

Pretty close to the main station. But a shady locality. However, everything was right. We got what we paid for. Clean rooms. Breakfast wasn't really that good. But I still wouldn't complain. No problems with anything. Quite satisfied.

The hotel is located in a pleasant little place. It is near the train station (10 minutes walking distance, less than a mile) which is an advantage but a dirty street, in the night "strange" company. The hotel occupies the top floor - enter by the staircase next to the other apartments. Quite a reasonable price. Rooms spacious and clean, but please check before booking as not all rooms have private bathroom. A typical Italian breakfast - you can not eat it - the same sweet rolls and hazelnut cream. Support very nice and helpful. It is free internet access (WIFI)

We stayed in two hotels in Napoli, before and after spending some time in Sorrento. The first was Hotel Zara and the second was Hotel Casanova. They were the same price and both were good value and well-located if you are travelling by train and are not worried about the rather insalubrious environment around the station. They may well be run by the same management as they seemed to share some of the same staff. We thought Casanova was the better of the two, though Zara was a bit closer to the station and included a reasonable breakfast.

Arriving at night was not as scary as some of the comments had led us to believe. We walked quickly from the station, ignoring the touts, and found a big pile of rubbish outside the door of the building where the hotel was located. The lift needed a five cent coin, which we didn't have, so we walked up the two flights of stairs, not too bad as we had minimal luggage.

The room was small but adequate, with a little balcony overlooking the street, which we liked, and a wash basin. The bathroom, quite clean, was next door, and appeared to be shared with only one other room, so we had no problem with access.

Unfortunately the WiFi did not work for us at all, though it does in most hotels we've stayed in on our Italian trip. We were able to use a computer in the reception area, which was not available in the morning as the area was used for breakfast.

Overall, the hotel is good value if you get it at a special rate. We had a pay-in-advance no-refund deal which made it very worthwhile. And it was very convenient for arriving late at night.

Room Tip: Go to Casanova instead for really nice rooms.
