I had heard bad things about Naples beign dirty and not as safe a city. It was true.. and it becomes apparent as soon you come out of the train stattion. Anyways, Casanova Hotel is a tiny hotel almost like a hostel but thankfully on one of the main roads so easy to locate. My room's window opend to a residential part of the city that was pretty noisy.
Bathroom was as small as they come in eal budget hotels.. and had a funny smell.. even though it was clean. Room was also small but kept clean. TV didnt work. But I used room just for sleeping so it was fine for me. The place is also close to cheap fon booths and some snack places so one can have food late in the night as well. The historic centre of Naples is walking distance so the location is cool that ways. Locality is not the best..but it can pass

Loved the place.

Stayed there on 22/23 August. It was a total steal at €40 excl breakfast (we were moving at the crack of dawn so didnt try but that was value at €4 apiece)

The rooms were super clean, spacious (our room had an extra bed), lots of power points, nicely done up and they do the beds/cleaning daily (some budget places in Italy dont).

And Giuseppe is a nice man.

The wifi is lovely - the fastest i've used even compared to some big hotels i've stayed in.

All in all, highly recommended - but note no lifts in here.

PS: ignore the name, the place is really nice and worth even for families :)

I would heartily recommend staying at this hotel to anyone. Once you get passed all the 'Naples is dirty, smelly, full of rubbish etc.' comments, Naples is a beautiful city, with lots to see: good transport links to Rome and the rest of Campania, good local transport within the city. The people are friendly, warm and we never felt in the slightest bit unsafe, scared or worried about walking around main streets or back streets - any time of the day or night.
The Hotel Casanova was an great location from which to do this: walking distance from the Circumvesuviana, the mainline trains, the buses in the Piazza Garibaldi and the metro. In fact, you can walk to almost any part of Naples from this location with ease. In the hotel, the rooms were clean (every day) - one of ours had air conditioning, which was a God send! - the bathrooms well-sized and always with plenty of hot water. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, even though they hardly (except the famous Guiseppe) spoke any English, but no matter: we always made ourselves understood to them and they to us - we coped! It is also excellent value for money: if you are looking for somewhere to lay your head at night while you are out seeing the huge number of sites in the area, then is is your place: if you want sumptuously appointed rooms and huge breakfasts, then look elsewhere. (On the subject of breakfast: the place opposite is good, but the cafe Brazil in the Piazza Principe Umberto was better - it had seats and a table and was only a short walk down the Vico Milano.)
Thank you to Trip Advisor for its recommendation of this place: we were so pleased to have found it.

The taxi driver at the airport warned me that staying in the neighborhood close to the central station of Naples would not be a smart idea due to all the immigrants and criminals hanging around. In the end it turned out that the only criminal was the driver himself charging a discretionary cab fee without using a taximeter. The neighborhood of the hotel was okay, not the very best in Naples but in walking distance to the historic center of the city.

I enjoyed my stay at the family-owned hotel a lot. I was welcomed by English speaking friendly staff. Early checl-in was possible and I got my room already at 11AM. The room itself was just what I expected for 35 Euros in the South of Italy. Nothing special but of solid quality and clean. Free wireless internet is offered.

For budget travelers definitely a recommendation!

We wanted a short and low-budget vacation to see the historic Napoli, Capri, Pompei and the Amalfi coast. That ment we had to travel a lot, so we chose Hotel Casanova because it was located near the railway station and important bus stops. The accommodation here is nothing fancy, but the rooms are very clean, some with AC, large comfortable beds, clean towels changed regularly. There is also a type of lounge on the first floor, where you can use the internet, watch tv or eat.
All our thanks to the staff, who are very friendly and helpful. They answered all our questions, recommended dinners, food, beverages, places to see and how to get there. If you want a continental breakfast, it's best to buy food at any of the 2 nearby discount supermakets. For an Italian breakfast, go across the Hotel, to the Bottega della Sfogliatella and have a local delight - sfogliattela and coffee.
The neighborhood is a little noisy, but we only spent little time in the hotel and we got used to it. The hotel looks much better from the inside and you can ask to see a room before checking in.
All in all, we were very happy with our stay at the Casanova and the magnificent sights we saw.

Although not in the best area, the hotel is very clean and the rooms were cleaned everyday.
The staff were very helpful and friendly,, although our Italian wasn't the best we seemed to understand each other quite well.
Security is not a problem , very safe , and someone there at all times.

You can use the internet, but it runs very slow, other than that we were happy with the hotel.

My husband and I arrived in Naples with a big problem: I'd left my passport in Rome. Giuseppe greeted us with a big smile, and when I told him what happened, he immediately made a phone call to our previous hotel. Several phone calls later including help from a friend of Giuseppe's, and after a search for the right office address, two days later I was able to pick up my passport at a nearby Mailboxes Etc. for half the cost quoted by the hotel in Rome. Mille grazie, Giuseppe! You made our stay in Napoli a great experience. The hotel is basic, clean, conveniently located (walking distance to the train station, unless you have a lot of luggage) and tucked back away from the busy street. There's free WiFi in the lobby, too. Good value and recommended.
