We only stayed for 2 nights so the room was adequate. It is in a good location for all the transport but not the nicest looking area. Naples is dirty anyway but this area is particularly messy. We arrived at 12 so our room wasn't ready but the cocky receptionist kept our bags whilst we went out. The room had two beds pushed together made as one double but it was clean and bathroom was almost clean with only a curtain for a shower. The bathroom looked wheelchair friendly type of room but with no lift and size of the room it would not be pissible to even get in with a wheelchair. One clothes cupboard and table and chair. The room had a big window but the view was of the dirty street opposite. The room was airconditioned and we got the remote for it and with 34C on 1.7.2012 we were greatful for it. We got charged city tax of €2 per person per day on top of our booking before we departed. Overall it was adequate for our short stay, clean but not sparkling, quiete with good night sleep, breakfast was limited but ok, it even has a computer with internet use but no Wifi in the room. No luxury but fine.

Very good location - approx. 10 minutes walk from Napoli Centrale (a.k.a Napoli Garibaldi) Station. Area is a little sketchy at night, but as long as you stay alert and don't flaunt your valuables, you will be fine. Watch/Jewelry should be hidden - either under your clothes or in your luggage. If you've bought some wine/beer from one of the nearby stores, keep it concealed. With that said, these suggestions hold true for everywhere in Naples, and not just this neighborhood.
The room (and lobby/reception area) is clean & functional. The 'double bed' is 2 beds joined together, but is still comfortable. The rooms are cleaned everyday, & the towels & toiletries are replaced everyday too. The free Wifi is only available in the stairways, and is not very reliable.
The cafe in the hotel is pricey for 5 Euros per person - just some cold cuts, juice, tea & coffee. Should be free in my opinion, or there should be better options for that price. Better to skip this & grab something at the zillions of Cafe's in the city. The hotel is also very close to a number of excellent Pizzerias, that makes it convenient for a quick (or relaxed, as per your wish!) lunch & dinner.
The hotel is within walking distance to the Duomo (approx. 15-20 minutes walk), Piazza del Jesu (historic district - approx. 20-25 minutes walk) and the Naples Archaeological Museum (20-25 minutes walk).

We stay at the Hotel De La Ville at the end of May 2012, and in the end moved after the first night!
The hotel is located in a horrible neighbourhood which felt unsafe.
The room was small, dark and tired. The bedding was ripped and not what you would expect!
The worse breakfast ever, the staff were too busy on the mobile phones to even acknowledge us and we were not even offered tea/coffee, the only offering was watered down orange squash in plastic cups and cupboard cornflakes!
When we went to check out the staff weren't even bothered that we were leaving early, too busy smoking!!

We had a lovely stay here. Staff was friendly, the room was clean, tidy and comfortable. Breakfast was simple but tasty. The hotel is close to the station but quiet enough so you won't have to use ear plugs to get a good night's sleep. Excellent value for money. + the best sfogliatelle in napoli are found right outside the entrance as one of the staff pointed out to us!

We had a super discount from booking.com, which made it a bargain. Everything working fine: Reception friendly, the Bangla-porter helpful and intelligent, the room and ensuite bathroom clean, view from the small balcony - but breakfast like most places in Italy not impressive.

Good location when commuting by train and for easy walks to the old town. Many African salesmen in the streets, which by the end of the day are flooded with waste, but next morning they are clean again!

Room Tip: No elevator.

Reception is on the ground floor, but rooms are on the first, second, and third floors without elevator. Rooms.were fine, with small balconies, small but functional bathrooms. The beds were not the most comfortable. I had booked a double, so there were two single beds pushed together, along with a third smaller bed in the room making it a cramped triple. Flat screen TVs but only Italian TV. Breakfast was typical Italian, a pastry, bread, juice, but the foulest instant coffee I've had in Italy. Hotel does offer free wi-fi, but range is weak, limited mostly to the first floor landing. The area is not pretty, but not necessarily unsafe. You can walk to the historic center easily, and the train station to Pompeii is right there too. I got an incredible half-off deal from an online booking site, so definitely got value for money. They let me store my luggage there after checkout until late afternoon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a lower floor if you have trouble with stairs.

This hotel is in a narrow street near the central station, in a wonderful position for those who come by train, as well as close to all the transport needed for the main attraction.
The staff was nice and helpful, the room (double en suite) clean and comfortable, the breakfast good.and abundant. Highly recommended!
