It is a little out of the way: down a corridor and on the 4th floor. The location is perfect. It is in walking distance of all the major sights in old Naples. We easily walked to and from the train station. There is a lot of graffiti on the street outside the hotel and at first we were unsure about the safety of the neighborhood. Sadly it turns out there is graffiti all over the historic part of Naples. We felt safe everywhere we went. The room was quiet and we slept soundly. It is a terrific value. We would stay there again.

The hotel is located in the centro historico, and almost everything is near if you are tourist. The room is ok, it has soft bad and it's a little bit narrow room, but it's perfect for few days. The view is not so good, because all u see is windows of the adjacent buildings, but for that price is super. The one thing that missing is that the walls are very thin, and you listen everything what's happening in the next room.

This hotel was fine for our 4 day stay in Naples. The location is great, right in the heart of the tourist/university area. Don't be put off by the graffiti outside - in Naples every vertical surface within reach of the human hand is covered in graffiti. Our room had a fan and air-con. The staff were helpful and the place generally feels clean and secure. Note that the in-room Internet service is wired so you will need a cable.

For the price paid (£111 for 4 nights), this hotel was OK. However, the lack of working fan on hot summer nights, hard bed and sewage smell eminating from the bathroom every morning made it just the wrong side of adequate. In terms of location, it was not in the best area of Naples but had a conveniently located supermarket and gelateria about 2 minutes down the road. The hotel is on the fourth floor - and the lift is a pay lift. Overall, it was just about OK, but not suitable for long stays, or for summer stays.

This no-frills hotel is in such a great location for exploring Naples. Very clean. It's loud due to Naples noisy street life, but we got used to it quickly. We had a room (412 I think) with a small balcony (it looked onto the neighboring building, but provided lots of fresh air and sunlight). Front desk staff here are wonderful, warm and helpful. The elevator doesn't cost any $ anymore as other travelers have mentioned because it has been jammed with a coin, so it's free but TINY and induces claustrophobia. I suggest sending the luggage up solo and hiking up the four flights of stairs!

On paper the hotel looked like a great value for money in a great location. Unfortunately that wasn't the case at all. The room was so small, we couldn't even fit 2 suitcases. Cleanliness lower than the average. Unbearably hot, there was no air conditioning unit in the room rather than a fan which in 40 degrees cannot help much, especially when you cannot even open the window due to scafoldings just outside. When we asked if we could move into a different room to get eventually some sleep they asked us to pay 20 euros extra. It was impossible to stay under these circumstances and we decided to leave the hotel and find another one, which luckily was excellent for similar amount of money. Wouldn't reccommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel Europeo is a great budget choice. I found my room to be perfectly clean - an absolute requirement for me. The bathroom was roomy by European standards, and we even had a little balcony with a clothesline. The location is fantastic - right in the heart of the "old town" area, and right by the university. There are plenty of students out late at night, so we felt safe walking around the neighborhood after dinner. The hotel is on the 4th floor, and tucked in the back of a building, so you get no street noise, too.

The minor downsides: (1) You must pay an additional 5 euros/night for air conditioning. We spent the first night without AC and were both uncomfortable, so we sprang for AC the second night. (2) Our TV did not work, but we didn't press this because we were out most of the time anyway. (3) The mattress was quite stiff, but I have found that to be the case in many budget European hotels. (4) While the two male hotel clerks in the evening and night are extremely nice, the dark-haired woman who tends the desk in the morning is kind of abrasive and rude. Just avoid her and you'll be fine.

A note on the "French" double bed option: My boyfriend and I booked the French bed, which I was told is about 53" wide, as opposed to a traditional queen bed which is closer to 60". 53" is about the size of an American full bed, which is really plenty of room for two people, so we opted to save the 22 euros and booked the smaller French bed. At 48 euros, we just couldn't resist a bargain. As it turned out, we never saw the French bed, because the hotel upgraded us to a regular queen bed at the French bed price (apparently all the French bed rooms were full). Very nice of them.

We hope to return to Naples again one day and when we do, we will definitely be contacting Hotel Europeo.
