Grand Hotel Europa

My husband and I were very pleased with Grand Hotel Europa (for 3 nights), which is very casual despite the name. Very short walking distance from train station. Other people complain about the neighborhood, but I never felt unsafe and no one bothered us on the street. The people around the station were the usual you find anywhere else. The 24-hour reception desk was most helpful and the morning reception lady was very friendly. They had a bar and nice lounge area with a free internet computer in it. Good elevator. Our room was large, bathroom was large, shower was large. The AC worked very well. Our room was quiet because it faced the small alley which was just fine with us. The only complaint was we wanted to eat dinner at the hotel on one of the 3 nights we were there, but there was a large screen TV in the dining room which was on and they would not turn it off. I don't know why -- maybe special group in that night. So we ate elsewhere. Breakfast was fine. This was a good value, one of the best on our 2-week Italy trip.

Dear Patricia T,

Good morning from Naples and thanks a lot for a such positive feedback.

We are very delighted with your appreciation of every aspect of your stay at the Grand Hotel Europa and, additionally, we are very satisfied when tourists go further than what the internet says about our city and enjoy a truly fulfilling time. Fortunately you became aware on your own that people around the station were the usual you find anywhere else.

We inform you that our large screen TV was turned on after a request by another guest, to watch a sport event. We are sorry that we were not able to fulfil your dinner plans but we hope to welcome you back at Grand Hotel Europa and offer you a free characteristic Neapolitan dinner.

With our best regards

If you want to be near the tran station then this hotel is perfect, but it was a bit of a walk to get to the main sights in the city. The area surrounding the hotel is a little bit rough which is a shame as the hotel is comfortable, clean and good value for money.

Dear Guest,
good morning from Grand Hotel Europa and thanks to write a review for us.

We are happy that you appreciate our hotel and services.

As you know, every major city throughout the world, may present a challenge with transit but we are happy to tell you that you can find many people like us that work hard every day and are proud to provide you with a true display of Neapolitan hospitality

Naples is a big city and has a lot of main sights, one of them is the historical center, that is pratically two steps away from our hotel. Additionally, it is very easy to reach other main sights because we are situated in the principal point of public transport.

We hope to see you again in the future

Best regards

Returned yesterday to the UK from a 7 night stay at this hotel. We booked a very reasonable package deal that included the hotel and flights, advertised on teletext holidays. We chose the hotel because of it's proximity to the central train station, literally around the corner. This allowed us to visit, Herculaneum (15 mins 3 euro), Pompeii (20 mins 3 euro) Sorrento (1 hr 6 euro), all on the circumvesuviana line and even Rome (2 hrs 22 euro) with ease on the reasonably priced and frequent trenitalia services. No hire car needed! For the sights in Naples, the Metro is also useful. There is also a bus directly outside the station to and from the airport (3 euro), and another one on the opposite side of the square to the port, from where we caught the ferry (30 euro return) to beautiful Capri. We therefore avoided expensive taxis and saw an awful lot of the best tourist sites in Italy in just 7 days, without feeling rushed or under pressure. On the dowside, Naples and the area round the train station in particular is pretty scruffy in general, but even at night it was busy and we didn't feel it was at all dangerous. The hotel itself however, was excellent. Clean, comfortable, good AC, quiet and with really helpful and efficient English speaking staff. The decor is fresh and the continental breakfast was great. Wifi in the lounge. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore the region with ease. At this price you cannot go wrong!

Dear Fergflyer,
thanks a lot for a such nice review about Grand Hotel Europa.

We are delighted about the way you explained how easy is to reach every turistic site from our hotel. Maybe 7 days more in Naples should have gave you opportunity to explain it in Neapolitan language :)

It's been a really pleasure to host you, we hope to see you again in future!

Best regards

The hotel was very good value for the price. Marble floors, nice balconies, very high ceilings added ssome charismatic Napolian flavour. Air conditioning protected from the humidity and heat of August. The rooms were clean and the staff very helpful. While it is true the streets of naples are filthy with litter and grime, this hotel was a welcome oasis. Already planning our next trip there!

We stayed here for 2 nights en route back to the uk. After reading lots of reviews about naples, and particularly around the train station we were a bit apprehensive about staying in Naples.
As it turned out we had no problems at all, yes we saw some people drinking in the street at night, we had one beggar approach us who went away as soon as we refused him, but this is no different from most other major cities throughout Europe and in the UK.
The hotel is situated perfectly for the tourist, just a 5 minute walk from the train station and only 5 minutes to the shopping areas of Naples. The room was comfortable, the decoration a litle dated, but the service and the food/drink was absolutely spot on. All in all excellant value for money
We experienced 2 street markets, one consisting of usual market goods ie shoes, bags, clothes etc etc and the Sunday market with food, fish, bread etc stalls, all being frequented by hundreds of locals.... no problems at all.
One thing to add is that there is a lot of rubbish around, mostly up against bins already filled, but it did tend to be centralised rather than spread out all over the town.
I would definately recomend this hotel and also a visit to Naples for the experience.

Good morning from Grand Hotel Europa,

thanks a lot to spend time in writing this review.

We admire a lot your spirit in visiting our city including visit to street markets. An ideal experience to have a view of Naples from the inside and not as a tourist. You have now the proof that many times newspapers and televisions go too far in judging our city, but in the end, as you said it's not so different from other city troughout Europe.

We will be happy to welcome back you here again!
