This castle is best viewed from outside. The entrance is breathtaking, but from there I'm afraid it's all downhill. The paintings on show in the upper right portion of the castle are of limited quality, the Baron's Hall is plain and uninteresting, and the view from the balcony is easily bettered by that from the road just down from the Royal Palace.
The only moderately interesting part is the glass floor over the ruins, but even that is not worth the six euro entrance fee.
All in all, it promises so much, but delivers so little. Best avoided.

I thought i would kill a couple of hours here exploring an old castle in Naples bay reading up on its history and taking in the sites......i was wrong. 30 minutes later i had visited the few rooms on show and imagined what they might have been as there was no way of knowing. Nice from the outside but dont waste your time.

The famous ''Castel Nuovo or Maschio Angioino'', we finally went there for our second visit here in town before I had heard of this attraction as one of the finest of Naples, I obviously do not believe what the people say until I personally check it out, unfortunately I was a little disappointed by a visit to this monument.
The view from outside is beautiful standing in front of it but it is the inside that disappointed me a lot.
The entrance fee is € 6, there are very few things to see and frankly the price is too high compared to what there is to see.
What is possible to visit is just the inner square, so a large room with a wide jewelery collection then a huge conference room and another room with the glass floor through which you can see the tombs with human remains, piled like a charnel house or some sort of crypt, in short, a few skeletons.
You can climb up through stairs to the first floor where there is a small terrace about 20 meters high from the ground where you have a panoramic view of the harbor so few ships that dock at the pier, nothing more.
In terms of views in Naples there are definitely better spots as the Vomero or Castel dell 'Ovo.
People are not worth giving € 6 for entering a place that is worth no more than 2.

I went there for a short trip and it was absolutely worthy to sea these fantastic remnanst of acient architeture, feel the atmosphere with a grreat loook on the sea-side and simply (cost-free!) feel absolutely great in being there.

Little hint-: bring something to drink and eat there - all restos are far and heaving a picknick with such an absolutely fantatistc view is indispensable!

Beautiful castle in the harbour of Napoli. The access is free. Inside is an exhibition of beautiful old jewellery and art.
