“Great room and value”
Reviewed 12 April 2011

The room we stayed in was very spacious and clean. We had a computer with free internet access in our room. The beds weren't very comfortable (a little hard), but overall great value.
I don't know if there is a great location in Naples, we had to walk far to get to anything (I am sure there was a better way to get around, but we didn't know of what besides a taxi and those get spendy). On the way back to the hotel at night we passed through some sketchy looking areas, but they weren't too bad.
I would stay here again.

I usually don't write reviews but these guys deserve it! My husband, two little girls, and I just returned from Naples and had a wonderful experience. The friendly staff was indispensible in making the most of our site-seeing time. They helped organize tours and had great advice. They really go above and beyond in looking out for guests. Our room was spacious (hard to find downtown Naples) and very clean. The European-style breakfast was yummy and convenient and the restaurant downstairs was one of our best meals in Naples. Food is generally excellent in "Napoli," as long as you side-step the tourist traps. We had a fresh seafood appetizer and delicious pizza! We noticed that the restaurant seemed to be a local favorite. Naples has so much to offer and Hotel Neapolis is accessible to it all. You could spend two days on foot and not see everything nearby. The San Severo Chapel is a short walk - don't miss the "Veiled Christ." Spacco Napoli, a street from truly ancient times, conveys the character of this historic and fun city. We visited Il Duomo - the Cathedral of Naples. We saw that the church was built on Byzantine ruins, which were built on Roman ruins, which were built on Greek ruins. The Archeological Museum is also nearby. This has most of the important statues and artifacts recovered from Pompeii, among other highlights. There is the Palazzo Reale, one of the royal palaces from the 17th century - spectacular. And this is next to the San Carlo - Naples' famous opera house. There is also Via Roma and Galleria Umberto for shopping. There is a 14th century castle and scenic piazzas and beautiful churches. I could go on and on, but my point is that Hotel Neapolis is within easy walking distance to them all. Overall we had a fantastic time and we will for sure suggest our friends to stay at the Hotel Neapolis.

I spent 3 days in Naples. This hotel is great for its location: in the heart of Naples, perfect for to visit all the major attractions.
1) The rooms are very large anc clean.
2) The bedrooms are of a good size
3) The breakfast line is great, with yoghurt, eggs and magical cappuccino!
4) The staff was more helpful and we loved all the restaurants they recommended to us (La locanda del Grifo)
We recommend to visit Napoli and to stay in Neapolis hotel.

We have stayed in the Neapolis every summer for the past 6 years. There is an element of habit in our choice. Prior to this we had used other Naples hotels, but the Neapolis gives us access to the Naples we like. It is close to where people live (outdoors). It has good places to eat, particularly Pizzeria dei Matteo, which is inexpensive. Their pizzas are fragrant and live in the memory. The Neapolis is located right in the historic centre, close to the essential churces of San Lorenzo, San Domenico and the Duomo. The beautifully laid-out Archaeological Museum is nearby. The Capodimonti Museum is about the only location requiring public transport. If you walk the arduous miles you will have no energy to view the wonderful paintings by Titian, Caravaggiuo, Masaccio etc. Also close to the hotel is the relatively new modern art gallery, MADRE, near the Duomo and based in a 14th century monastery. This is an international collection that includes Italy's best, and
hosts prestiguous world travelling exhibitions. It really tries hard and generally succeeds. At the risk of sounding trite, MADRE is one of Naples hidden gems.
All the Neapolis Hoitel all rooms have free PCs. Some superior rooms have fancy jacussis, although the last time we stayed, we couldn't get it to work. The breakfasts are basic: good coffee, rolls, yoghurt, cereals. There are plenty of little shops in the vicinity selling bread, hams, wine, fruit & veg. The rooms are clean, spartan, with modern furniture and tiled floors. We have never encountered any of the bad experiences described in a few of the reviews, although we have never arrived late. Over tthe last 30 years, we have stayed in other hotels in the city, though never at the seafront, which is too far from the architecture and art. This April we have booked the Neapolis for a week. After a winter in Aberdeen, we know that it will not disappoint., know what to expect and can't wait. Naples is a wonderful city that gets lousy publicity. Forget the stereotype, take a chance and try the Neapolis.

Very central location, easy access to all important sites. Staff quite impersonal, not very helpful.
No tourist info material - brochures, city maps or info on public transport - available except for a single home made collection that contains also outdated information (i.e Bus Line 24 to Capodimonte - does not exist any more)
Our triple room (201) and bathroom were spacious, but a bit shabby. Beds not very comfortable. Towels changed daily. Pigeon foul should be removed from the balcony. Roof terrace was closed during our 3 days stay.
Free internet and PC is a plus, but software not upgraded for quite a time. An unexperienced user without knowing the language may be embarrassed by the Italian browsers and all.
We got trapped in the elevator twice during 3 days, first we were escaped in minutes, 2nd time it took more time. :-)
Breakfast choice and presentation is poor: no fresh fruits or veggies; the worst ever scrambled eggs; synthetic juices which is a shame in Italy, previous days leftover cakes served again and again!

We paid $190.00 canadain for this hotel. We were with a tour of 13 people. The room is very tiny and the beds are not very comfortable with very flat pillows. The shower is so small that if you drop your soap forget it. The breakfast was very poor. They were out of a lot of the food. There is a sign in the room telling you that if you take more then one of each item you will be charged and only 1 coffee per person. I guess it is very convenient to some of the tour sights but that is all I can say about it.

Dear guest,
after You said "I guess it is very convenient to some of the tour sights but that is all I can say about it", we don't understand the complaints.
But we know that every hotel is different from others.
Thanks a lot

The Neapolis is a comfortable, European-style hotel in the heart of Naples in a teaming neighborhood full of narrow streets, shops and eateries. The restaurant in the ground floor of the building housing the hotel is excellent and charmingly al fresco. The hotel has a rooftop bar and a helpful front-desk staff.

Upon arrival and because we had our luggage, we considered taking a taxi with from the train station, and we should have. It was a 20-minute walk uphill and would have been worth the ride. Once there, however, the location is fine for seeing the sights of the city and getting back to the station to travel to Pompei and the rest of the Amalfi Coast.

We had a superior double room and a standard triple. My wife's and my room was stunning, with a king bed, walk-up bathroom with jacuzzi, and frigid air conditioning. The other three in our party were not as lucky: tiny, hot room filled completely with the two beds and no room for luggage. Take a taxi and book a superior room if possible!
