We stayed here for two nights over Labor Day weekend. The location is great, if you don't have a car. It is located in downtown Naples, the metro is a couple of blocks away. There are many stores to shop and places to eat. Our problem is that we drove there and couldn't find a place to park and the hotel does not help with it either. Public parking on the streets charge per hour and it can get very expensive. We were lucky to arrive on Saturday after 8 pm and leave Monday before 8 am (this is the free parking period). Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast is at the restaurant downstairs, coffee, pastries and juices. The rooms are very simple, just beds and a very small tv. We just booked it to sleep and it served it's purpose.

Great location near Piazza Dante on busy thoroughfare. Very old and unpreposessing palace now parking garage. Looked like was under construction; hopefully it will be completed soon creating a nicer entrance and first impression of what was a nice hotel. Spacious room, nice breakfast, great restaurant where we ate every night (Owned and connected to hotel with same name) with nice waitress and reduced rate dinners. A good option for touring an exciting and lively city

I researched and visited most budget options in Napels for an assignment (travel report) and found Locanda dell'Arte one of the best options. Central location in a old, charming palazzo, clean and relatively serene - for Naples standards. We had a spacious 3-bedroom with shutters on the back side of the palazzo, overlooking the pedestrian area to the Archaeological Museum. The bar-restaurant downstairs is a nice hide-away from the noisy main street and serves good pizza's.
Keep in mind: Victoria House and Locanda dell' Arte are two different facilities, although from the same owner. The latter has nicer rooms furnished with antiques, and are also quieter.

then you'll love the Victoria House...

It's on the main road, so close that you can leap out of the first floor window on to the top of the many buses going past. Really, even with the double glazing shut, it's loud. Some of the rooms in the Locanda section may be more bearable.

The drains didn't work, either. The shower in our room backed up and if you flushed the toilet a little water came up out of the shower plug hole. Unpleasant.

The staff are really helpful and sweet but they have to be, because there aren't enough of them to check you in if you arrive at the wrong time. And then the key doesn't work. It's not their fault that whoever owns the place hasn't spent enough money to sort all the legion of problems out.

On the upside: The TV just about worked and it seemed clean enough.

Napoli is not an easy town to find well priced accommodation...LOCANDA DELL'ARTE & VICTORIA HOUSE was an interesting, yet disappointing stay. It is at the top of via Toldeo, which is a main shopping strip. The location is useful as your are close to the major Museum and a 15 min walk to the harbour area. You check in at the restaurant downstairs, which is part of the establishment. The room had some issues. The sheets were fresh, but the bed cover had "fluid deposits" and other unspeakable nasties splotched around...Toilet paper was treated on a ration basis...soap was a chemical slop that was diluted for your pleasure!Once all these things were sorted it out, it turned out to be good value. You get a 15% discount at the restaurant downstairs, which also serves you breakfast. We found the food to be good and the restaurant area to be a relaxing haven after a hot day. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is a 5 minute walk to the local plaza which had some good restaurants. If you are on a budget, this is great.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
La Locanda dell'Arte contains in its name the whole sense of our favorable welcome! La Locanda dell'Arte is located in the Naples historic centre, in an accurately renovated XVIII C. Building. The structure is very close to the most famous Neapolitan theatres: Bellini Theatre , San Carlo Theatre , San Ferdinando , Mercadante, Augusteo Theatre , Bracco, that can be easily reached in a few minutes walk. That's the reason why it became the artists' and actors' favourite place to stay during their show-tours. Its strategic location, in the middle between the Academy of Arts , the National Museum and Bellini Street promenade, assures a quiet and silent stay, far from the traffic noise, and a good chance to plunge into the magical historic centre. From here you can visit all the artistic and historical attractions of the city: Via Costantinopoli, Piazza Bellini, Santa Chiara Monastery with its celebrated Cloister, San Severo Chapel, San Gregorio Armeno and the Underground City ( Napoli Sotterranea ). Through the tube line (tube station at 200m) you can easily reach Ercolano, Pompei, Sorrento and the Vomero hill. Our rooms overlook the Bellini street promenade. All our guests can use the internet point in the common area and have access to the WI-FI service for free . ... more   less
