“Naples a real eye opener”

The accommodation was very suitable and had everything we needed. Probably a little crowded as we needed to move things to find places to put things. House filled with the most interesting paintings and antiques and would be a collector's dream. The landlords were very nice and helpful particularly for 3 adults. Still minor situation.
Naples itself was quite a culture shock. The rubbish everywhere. Dog droppings all over the footpaths around our area plus the amount of discarded cigarettes butts really affected me because I'm quite allergic to them. Location was good except too many inclines to walk when one is older my friend almost 80. If walking I'd recommend one investigates ease of movement. Traffic was atrocious with total disregard to rules and one had to be very careful crossing roads. The city is very interesting and full of history but probably not my choice of places to visit. We lived as the locals not taking advantage of organised tourist outings. We wanted to really experience the lifestyle so probably made it a lot harder for ourselves than needed to be. At least we saw it all and not just the highlights. I don't know how people live in such a crowded environment. Probably that's all they know and it's normal to them. Made me really appreciate how very blessed we are in Australia.

Liked best: The top quality, low priced fruit. The quaint old streets and the amazing places of interest
Liked least: the dirt, dog droppings, cigarettes everywhere, and taxi drivers who rip you off (had to report one who was called by company and sought me out at the station to offer a refund and ask me to lie for him so he wouldn't be suspended)

Thank you to my guests for their kind words about my apartment. Just a few words about Napoli: I've travelled in Italy and Western Europe and I found a problem of poor cleaning in a lot of places. On the other side, Napoli is very very rich in cultural positive emotions and in treasures of art that my guests did not generally expect to find. For those who are interested in art and history, Napoli is a melting pot of Greek, Roman, French, Arabic and Spanish cultures as well as architecture, paintings and, why not, excellent food.

Charming apartment with well equipped kitchen, bathtub and even a washing machine. Owner went out of her way to make trip comfortable and ensured our taxi was called with set price for our departure. Very nice area in Naples and close to subway. Highly recommended..

“A perfect place to stay in Naples”
Reviewed 22 December 2014 for a stay in December 2014

Staying in Marisa's "Naples Forever" apartment was like staying in a beautiful oasis amongst the wonderful noise and chaos of Naples. The apartment is like staying in a small museum - in fact you could spend almost as much time looking at Marisa's wonderful collectables as in a museum - they are a total delight. The apartment is comfortable beyond belief. We have never stayed in an apartment in all our trips that is as well resourced as this one. Anything you could possibly need as a traveller is there. It is so comfortable and cosy, within an hour of being there you feel like you are at home but just in another city.
And then apart from the wonderful apartment there is it's wonderful owner. Marisa is unbelievably kind and helpful. She drove with us to the garage and showed us where to park our car, she told us everything we needed to know about Naples, she even went on the train with us to find paint to patch a small mark on our car (this would have been an impossible task for anyone visiting Naples) and then she happily helped us out when we were lost and phoned her. Nothing was too much trouble. She left us wine and treats as well as any number of small necessities in the pantry.
On a more practical note - the apartment is in a great position. Walkable to central Naples but also very easily walkable to the subway. There are supermarkets and shops close by and a lovely local restaurant just up the street. There is a lift to her first floor apartment which makes carrying heavy bags an easy thing. All of these things are great but the most important thing when you are new to a city and don't speak the language is the total kindness and generosity of the owner that makes all the difference and for this and her wonderful taste and sense of humour Marisa stands way above the rest. We would recommend this apartment as a wonderful example of what holiday apartments should be. Thank you Marisa for a short but wonderful stay. Pam and Ian from Australia

“Comfortable fun apartment”

Marisa and Antonio's apartment at Via Giacinto Gigante, 5 Naples is comfortable indeed; on the first floor with easy wide stairways or an elevator. Very quiet. Good heating. There are 2 large double bedrooms a bathroom and a kitchen with dining table. The bedrooms and kitchen open onto a pleasant wrap-around terrace which houses a delightful garden of pot plants and cacti.
The beds are comfortable, good quality (not foam) with a surplus of quality linen.
The kitchen has refrigerator, gas cooktop, double sink, clothes washer, electric toaster and every type of plate, glass, cup and saucepan.
The bathroom has a tub and over-tub shower, bidet, toilet, washbasin.
The hot water is unlimited continuous flow and hot. Plenty of towels.
On arrival we caught a taxi (€15) up the hill from the train. Marisa our host lives close by and met us warmly; proudly showed us the apartment. The apartment is unforgettable; the walls are decorated with memorabilia from personal paintings, shows, opera, famous people, Napoli history and family. All sorts of nik-naks. Every day we studied the walls, improved our education and found things to discuss.
There are 3 small super-markets, butchers, fish monger and green grocers close by. We were able to conveniently get supplies as needed.
The METRO (€1.30 for 90 minutes) Salvator Rosa is 10 minutes down the hill. Museo is 2 stops.
The highlight of our visit to Naples was our landlady, Marisa. Excellent English and understanding of the peculiarities of British culture. Helpful on all detail, large and small. In a foreign country it is so comforting to have a friend who can help with a problem; which fortunately we did not have. Even before we arrived we were sent practical travel advice. Marisa is generous, on arrival there was fruit, wine, cookies, coffee; everything we needed to get us going. Attempting to thank her we asked Marisa and Antonio to lunch and they took us to a typical Neapolitan restaurant just up the hill. They were so generous that even though we had suggested the lunch they quietly paid and refused us paying.
Staying at Via Giacinto Gigante, 5 in Napoli has been a lifetime experience. So different from our home in Melbourne Australia. We are fortunate and grateful.
