This hotel is perfectly located in the historic centre of Napels, a 5-10mins walk from just about anything there is to see: the Spaccanapoli, Decumano Maggiore, the Dome, the harbor/ferry port, royal palace, palazzo nuevo, shopping street Via Toledo etc.
It has clean (spic and span), comfortable and large rooms. The bathroom was very nice as well, there is an electronic air heating/cooling system which you can use and the hotel has (wired) internet in the rooms and (wifi) in the communal areas. Breakfast is nice with good coffee/cappuccino, fruits juice (concentrate), a croissant for every client, cereals and the choice of toast and jam/chocolate paste. Don't expect the world from breakfast (italians usually eat very modestly), but I had more than enough every day! Personnel is friendly and helpful. Napels has a lot of traffic, but the hotel is in a street parallel to the Corso Umberto which makes it alot less noisy but a perfect location to reach the shops, restaurant, harbor and train station (for trips to Pompei).

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room with a nice view

This building was converted into a hotel and redecorated quite recently. The place has no soul and the kindness of the staff is equal to zero but it offers very good value deals and is in a strategic position. We were given quite a big room on the 3rd floor.

We stayed at Hotel Albergo del Golfo in July, 2012. We took a triple sharing room. The room was great. It was large with a TV and lots of cupboard space a small balcony. The bathroom was a good size compared to what one gets in Italy. A newly renovated hotel. The location wasn't bad, it was a 15min walk to the main station and a 10min walk to the pier where one can catch ferries to Capri etc. The fort was also 15-20min walk. The area was quiet and out of the hustle bustle of Naples. But safe. Our room was inclusive of breakfast. But the breakfast was complete trash. One Croissant, horrible coffee. We spent 2 nights here. Both times they ran out of food. We got 2 croissants to be shared amongst 3 people. So I would not recommend the breakfast. Right next to the hotel there was a small shop run by an old lady, which served water, beer etc., which was dirt cheap. The lady herself was extremely sweet. The person on the reception was rude, and provided no help what so ever. He just did not seem interested. The staff was sparse and not service oriented. There was free wifi, but to avail the facility, one had to really argue with the person on the reception.
I would recommend the rooms and the location for the price but the service and breakfast was atrocious.

Room Tip: Do not take the room with breakfast. The room itself was very nice.

Excellent value for money. Have been twice in this hotel and will return. Recently this hotel hosted my group of forty six people for two nights. Everyone was surprised. Such a small hotel with such an elegant spacious clean and modern rooms. Breakfast is moderate but very good. Everyone complimented the management and staff who were attentive for every single detail and need of our stay there. Dont get a negative impression as soon as you arrive in the street. It's narrow and shadowy. The facade of the hotel is undergoing restoration. As soon as you step into the hotel, you feel better. As soon as you enter the corridors and room, you' ll feel like being in a five star hotel. The location is in the heart of historic Naples within walking distance to all points of interest.
The photos on the hotel's website are real. Other hotels presented excellent photos but disastrous lodging.
A very sincere grazie e complimenti to the staff and management at Albergo del Golfo. My next stay in Naples alone or with a group will surely be at Albergo del Golfo. An excellent value for money. Try it and you'll know what I mean!

We found this hotel to be clean, spacious and in a good location. However, we were very disappointed iun the service provided by the older Italian man who appeared to be the manager. He gave us a very hard time about our reservation, including calling us numerous times on the day of our arrival to verify if we were coming. He then hassled one of our party who had forgotten his passport, even though we had not been told that having a passport was necessary. He so misled us about our reservation options, then refusing to let us change our reservation once we arrived. Finally, he charged a 50 euro deposit to our credit card without telling us beforehand or explaining why, despite the arrangement to pay the entire bill in cash. It's a shame that a hotel with such potential could be ruined by poor customer service and the power trip of a manager.

This is a decent hotel at good value. The interior is tidy and has some quite classy touches with the rooms spacious.

The location is good on one hand, located within the historic centre; but bad on the other, on a slightly shady side street.

The hotel lacks services - there is a bar, but it appears to be dormant and the rooms miss basic facilities like a kettle and a few hot drink supplies.

Still, for a well placed cheap night in the city this is a good pick.

Initially from the reviews I didn't think this hotel would be great, but it ended up being surprisingly incredible!
Location - in historic center, felt rather safe. Walking distance from the port if you're going to an island. 10€ taxi to main train station.
10 minute walk to Via Tribunali which is one of the main streets with the best restaurants.
We were 3 and they put us in a 4 person bedroom. Enormous! Very clean, good air-conditioning, rather hi-tech. Definitely recommend it.
Breakfast is simple but good.
