“most helpful reception staff”
Reviewed 26 April 2010

Got the warmest welcome in this hotel: reception staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Room was very quiet and completely soundproof.
Very nice rooftop restaurant and bar. Liked the hotel a lot more than the city.
Will definitely stay in other Una hotels in Italy.

Very convenient for both the Trenitalia and Circumvesuvia railway stations, this hotel is bright, modern, contemporary, spotlessly clean and very comfortable - a very welcome modern change for hotels in Italy.

We were able to check-in early and were not disappointed by the room. Really firm comfortable beds, excellent lighting, great forceful air conditioning and modern clean spacious bathroom.

The rooftop bar offered a pleasant space to spend some time, and the modern restaurant offered a very nice breakfast. The only downside is the Naples mess and hawkers outside, but that's hardly something the hotel can control - it didn't provide any trouble for us anyway, and we had a great stay and easy visit to Pompeii.

Just back from a 3 night stay with my friend. Was really hesitant about boking this hotel only because of it's locatin and the reviews that I had read about Garibaldi square. Don't know why I was worried. Yes Piazza Garibaldi is dirty noisy and bustling but we never felt unsafe as it is just so busy 24/7. It's a perfect location if you, like us, plan to use Naples as a base to visit Pompei, Sorrento etc as it it directly facing the main station. Of course there are much nicer areas in Naples to stay but the cost is significantly more and then you have the hastle of using the metro (limited lines) or walk. (It would take 30mins+ to walk from Plebiscito to the train station). The Una Napoli is a gorgeous hotel. It is an old building which has been completely gutted inside. In the centre is an attrium which goes from top fllor to bottom and the lift is glass on 3 sides. The rooms are beautiful with flat screen tv and free safe. The bathroom is in brown marble and very luxurious. We also had 2 balconies overlooking the sqaure below. The noise from the square is very load but the doors when closed shut all this out. Breakfast is on the 6th floor and there is a very modern decked roof terrace where you can have your breakfast. Great selection of food for breakfast, just what you would expect from 4* hotel. The staff were very friendly always saying hello and asking if they could help you. We were even given free maps and guide books when we checked in. Naples is a great city with lots to do and a great base to do days trips. Yes it's noisy and dirty in places and may not be as clean etc as Florence, Rome etc but it's a real gritty city that's certainly worth a visit. Two great tips are. 1) head to Via Dei Tribunali in the histotric centre for great pizza. Basic restaurants serving only pizza, wine, beer and water and platic cups. But the most gorgeous pizza made in wood burning stoves. 2) Head to Piazza Vanvitelli on the metro for the best shopping area. This is an upmarket area and gets very busy in the evening when the italians head out for their evening stroll.

Stayed in Una Hotel Napoli in the beginning of march, the hotel is located opposite of the main trainstation, the ALIBus take's you for only 3 euro's directly to the main station, the stop is just a few steps away from the hotel.

The hotel is very well decorated, modern with a slightly classic touch, the rooms are pretty large with 2 chairs, a large workingdesk and a marble bathroom with bath, shower and bidet. There's sufficient lightening in the room which can be controlled by a switchboard next to the bed.

Breakfast is very good, great friendly staff ( thanks guys! ) many dishes cold and warm, fresh baked bread, and danish, fresh juice, fruit etc etc, when the wether is good the roofterrace offers breathtaking views!

My advice? Just book!

The hotel is very modern with lots of gadgets. The room was very well designed. The glass lifts and hotel layout was inexpressive. Food was of a high standard and all staff were first class. This hotel is next to the station and is very easy to find as most buses go to the main bus station. You can not hear any sound from outside of the hotel. I will be using this hotel again.

The Una Napoli is right in the heart of the city opposite the bus and rail station. It is probably not the most attractive of locations, with a few dodgy characters hanging around outside. However, it is easy to find from the airport link bus (the Alibus - just 3 euro from right outside airport to almost right outside Hotel ) and is right by the station for trips to Pompeii and Herculaneum. Just a 5 minute walk takes you into the old town (turn right out of the hotel, not left, for a safer route).

The Una Napoli is ultra-modern and clean. We were a group of 6 in 3 twin rooms and each of the rooms was slightly different in layout and size, although all had a balcony, free safe and satellite tv. Balconies at the front overlook Garibaldi square and Mount Vesuvius. We loved it.

The roof top terrace is a great place to get your bearings. The bar next to the terrace was open until after midnight and served double measures for 9 euros a go - much cheaper than hotels in most cities. Breakfast was also served in the rooftop bar/restaurant area and was quite substantial with cereals, pastries, yoghurts, toast, bacon and egg.
We didn't eat here in the evenings but we did have snacks which were fine.

We had just 2 nights/3 full days in Naples and we were a bit worried about what to expect - but we had a great time. It's dirty and untidy in parts but once you get a feel for it there's a bit of an element of shabby chic to it!

A couple of things to note:

-The funicular railway from Augusteo (on via Toledo) will take you to the top of the hill that dominates the city and then a 20 minute signed walk from there takes you to the Castle of St Elmo and the Convent next door, from where there are fantastic views of the city and Vesuvius. The Funicular climbs the hill underground (which was a bit of a disappointment) and you need the right money in coins (either 1 euro 20 or 1 euro 40 I think) but it is worth the journey.

-On Sunday the locals were all out in the old town smartly dressed and strolling up and down via Toledo and stopping in the squares. We couldn't work out whether it was a special festival or whether this was just what they did on a Sunday! Small children were dressed in fancy dress and there were street entertainers and stalls. It had a great atmosphere to it.

-Many of the restaurants were shut between about 4 and 8 pm which caught us out on the first day. We wished we'd studied the recommended restaurants before we left home so that we'd have been able to book somewhere up in the old town in advance.
On the first night the hotel recommended Mi Mi's which is just about 100 metres from the hotel and did great food.

-Pompeii was easy to get to by train and was amazing.

All in all, we had a great time and the Hotel felt like a home from home at the end of the day. Would definately recommend it.

We stayed in the Una hotel over the New Year. Nice room, good breakfast. Piazza Garibaldi is convenient to the rail links to Roma and the Circumvesuviana for Pompei and Sorrento. This busy and rather chaotic part of town is not everyone's preference, but you have to wonder if the previous poster has actually visited Delhi, which is not at all like Naples.

One small issue did occur. The front desk advertised a 15% discount on the New Year Gala dinner for hotel guests. We asked them to book a table, we went along to find a table in our name, and we enjoyed a fine dinner. The dinner was all inclusive and no bill was presented. When checking out the dinner appeared on our bill, but at the full cost. When we queried this we were told that we should have asked for the discount on the night, when it is not at all obvious how we should have done this. There was a flat refusal to adjust the bill.
