This is sad I know but the reason we wanted to see the castle was that we wanted to stand in the same spot as Cesare Borgia in the tv series :) How cheesy I know. But anyhow, we took the funicular of from Via Toledo which was pretty cool in itself and then it is about a 10 minute walk to the castle. There are signposts that lead you there from the funicular. Entrance to the castle cost 5€ and this was a fair price. To be honest there's not a whole lot to see inside the castle itself and many parts of it are restricted from tourists. There was a lovely exhibition on inside the castle during our visit which I think was something to do with Italian tv and radio broadcasting history. I couldn't understand any of the information about it as it was all in italian but we got the main gist of it and enjoyed looking at the display of stunning designer outfits worn by some of the italian tv stars. I think the main reason to come to the castle would be the views which are, of course, spectacular. We never did get to follow in the footsteps of Cesare Borgia but enjoyed the visit nonetheless. The castle doesn't seem to be that popular compared to Naples' other attractions and we had the whole place almost to ourselves so if you're looking for a bit of peace and quiet away from the city then this might be a good idea for a couple of hours trip.
