This B&B suited our families needs - affordable room for 5 people and close enough to public transport. Mario was super helpful prior to our visit and extremely friendly and welcoming when we arrived. We stayed in the family accommodation directly behind the main building which had room for four to sleep in the loft area and a double bed downstairs. Plenty of room, well equipped kitchenette, laundry and balcony as well as air con (which is not available in the main building). Be careful with children in the loft as the railing is either non existent or frail in some parts. Minimal bathroom and laundry supplies provided. Breakfast was a standard Italian fare: toast, jam, coffee/tea, juice and cookies left in the room, or you could eat in the main building with beautiful historical features. The main rail station (for trains to Sorrento) was about 30 min walk and the ferry terminal was a 15 minute walk. As the B&B is in the heart of the city, be prepared for noise. A good choice for a short stay or stop over.

Better little late than never :) We stayed here last spring, in an apartment around the corner from B&B. I can recommend this for everyone! So much history and great famous restaurants + shopping possibilities within walking distance. I love it when you are staying in an apartment (esp with children) when you don't have to think about going to a restaurant every time you feel hungry. There was all necessary equipment of course fridge included. There was a good small super market down the road, it was so easy to do some grocery/breakfast shopping :) It sold alcohol as well. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Naples is quite noisy but despite the noisy streets around this apartment was very quiet!

I would like to recommend this apartment and let you know how sound the owners are. There were 5 of us altogether booked in for one night before we headed to the airport homebound the following day. They gave us this little apartment with beds in a mezzanine upstairs and tv and a little kitchen with a bed downstairs. was so cute and comfy. very very safe as you needed three keys to pass doors and a locked lift up to the apartment. I thought i had booked us all in for breakfast but it turned out i didnt. we arrived over the next morning and despite the fact i forgot to book in for breakfast, the owner couldnt have been nicer and accommodating. she said not to worry and sat us down and gave us coffee and gorgeous fresh pastries and didnt charge us a penny. they had also organised a taxi to collect us and bring us to the airport. The evening when we first arrived they also gave us maps of the city and showed us good places to visit since we were only there for a night. We couldnt have been happier with the service we received and how kind the owners were. We left Italy with such nice thought of the place thanks to them. If i visit Naples again i will definately stay with these people. apartment is in a very central part of naples we walked everywhere to and from the place.

Room Tip: sorry i clicked swimming pool and fitness centre there but i dont think there is any.

This B&B was so charming and friendly in a city I was told would be dirty and uninviting. Miseria e Nobilta truly made my trip the fun weekend getaway that it was. I am so glad that I found it and recommend it to anyone looking for a little peace in the bustling city of Naples!

Room Tip: My room was right next to the front desk and a huge window onto the busy street, and I had no problem with noise or light. I imagine any room at this B&B is great.

Bad bits first......

It's an old building, so you won;t get a Hilton, Best Western experience with all the hot water in the bathroom, and buffet breakfast ,it 's a traditional Italian hotel serving a simple coffee and cakes, sweet breads and preserves etc breakfast.

The good parts are, it is an ancient house, dating back to the late 1600's with lovely ornate plasterwork.

It is on the edge of the historic quarter, easy walking distance from all the sites in Spaccanopoli and Via Decumani.

It's situated on the Via Monteliveto, which is the bus route out of town, parallel to Via Toledo heading in.

The Museo Archeologico is just uphill, There is a metro in Piazza Dante, and Montesanto is also close by, which will take you out to the north of Naples, or up the hill by funiculare to Vomero.

The area itself, as is the B&B, feels very safe and welcoming, with many good and very cheap trattoria, and a good supermarket for wine or picnics.

The hosts, Marco and Marina are very proud Neapolitans and are full of good advice on all aspects of their lovely city, and have a deal where you arrive at the airport, you ask for their approved taxis in the rank, they will escort you for E20 to the hotel.

Get an Artecard from the main station for cheap travel and museum visits..... this must be one nof the best city breaks ever, plus you can get ferries out to the lovely islands of Ischia and Procida.
