“Great discovery”
Reviewed 7 August 2011

Hotel Cimarosa is a great discovery. Location, comfort, modern amenities, cleanliness and value for money are all extremely high. But the thing that makes this little gem stand out is the service. All the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. My family and friends truly tested them to extremes and they never were too busy or too frustrated with us, from changing booking dates over a dozen times, lost luggage, tourist advice, lost keys etc And all communications were needed in 3 different languages (English, Italian and Portuguese). Excellent.

Hotel Cimarosa provides a great location and lovely rooms; the rooms are spacious,
and newly refurbished with elegant taste. Breakfast is a lovely buffet and framed by a large window with sky views, the sky in the bay of Napoli grand and unique in color.
The staff is the best part of this hotel being friendly and generous of advice if needed.
The Vomero district is a great introduction to the city of Napoli.

The hotel is in good location, connected to the city center by the central metro. It takes 5 minutes to reach the Centro and costs 1.10 euro ticket valid for 90 minutes (if you want to return). There are enough restaurants and supermarkets around. It may be difficult to find the hotel as the hotel does not have a separate building with its own compound. It's located on the 5th floor of a building (where the FUGA metro station is). The deluxe double room given to us was big, clean & nice. Staffs were friendly but the receptionist who works in regular working hours only speaks English. If you have a car, be ready to pay 20euros for an overnight parking in a nearby garage.

Right to start off with the hotel is not as luxiourious as it seems on the website. It seems to promise hotel quality when in fact it is a slightly up market hostel. The rooms and the beds were perfectly fine but we had to share a bathroom (with loose wires hanging out and an old shower) between about 4 rooms of 2 people.
The misunderstanding was slightly our fault in part because we believed that we would be getting the rooms showed on the website for €140 (and common sense should have prevailed) but still I found it a bit misleading and was pretty annoyed for the first night.
On the plus side the room was big and we had a massive sink /bidet area and fantasic views from the top of Vomero (the hill above naples). The location was great next to the cable railway and a metro station and great shopping around the area. I don't know if it was good value for money, as we did not get any electricty to the sockets (one which came out of the wall after we had unplugged the phone charger). Reception was polite- but they did explain there was a 'curfew' time of about 0130am which was not explained on the site either. All in all it wasn't a fantastic experience- but I am sure it could have been worse.
