This Temple of egyptian goddess Isis is not large, but is very picturesque and placed near the Big Theatre of Pompeii, nr. 47 of official site map. The surviving frescoes shows a Nile landscapes as the ancient romans could imagine them. The importance of the Temple shows the fact that it was rebuilt during the short interval between the eartquake of 62 AD and the final destruction of Pompeii 79 AD. Visitor, be inspired as Mozart and Bulwer-Litton by visiting this place!

The Temple of Iside is very well preserved. You can even see some of the original paint. The temple is small, very compact. I think of it as a petite temple. Because of its size, you can imagine the missing pieces of the ruin a little easier and recreate what the temple must have originally looked like. This is a fantastic part of Pompeii.

Practical notes: Pompeii is very easy to get to from Naples. Naples has a convenient, safe, efficient baggage storage that you might want to use so that your visit to Pompeii is comfortable. Take the local train in the basement of the Naples train station to Pompeii. It’s the local train with the END POINT OF SORRENTO. Don’t take any other train. It must say SORRENTO. Once at the Pompeii Scavi station, head right, pass a tourist office that is NOT officially of the Pompeii site (a man in that office will likely try to swindle you aggressively), pass a row of souvenir & food stands. To your left will then be the entry into Pompeii. The ticket office will face you. To the side is the official tourist office with free maps and also a bathroom that is very tiny and dingy. Once inside Pompeii, you will not have access to water, food, bathrooms—anything. So take your own water/snacks, and be sure to use the bathroom before entering.

We didn't locate this our first day, but when we did find it, we decided it was our favorite Pompei temple.

I would definitely recommend this B&B. It has all the elements that a traveler on a budget needs but with much added value. Great hosts!
