This hotel has everything you need. It's comfortable, clean, and a great retreat from the heat of the POMPEII ruins!

We stayed here for one night so we could get an early start at Pompeii. We were made very welcome, the rooms were clean and well-equipped and it was very good value for money. It was also located nice and close to one of the main entrances to Pompeii ruins and near the railway station. There is an outdoor pool, but naturally only in use in the summer.

I recommend this as first choice to anyone who is sightseeing in the region of Bay of Naples. It's location, is adjacent to the entrance to Pompeii, to the Circumsuviana Train Station (local rrain), and buses to Mt. Vesuvius, so location is ideal. Quiet on a very pretty road. Best of all, It has a beautiful refreshing pool, for cooling off after hot days sightseeing--the only pool in the area. Pompeii, Oplontis, Herculaneum, Boscoreale, are all quick trips on the local train, must sees. You need to spend more than one day at Pompeii alone. After a few days and you can cover them all. Naples is 20-30mins away. Better to stay here than Naples -- you have easy commute to the city sites, but have the pool and well priced rooms instead of busy noisy hot urban hotel. You take can day trips to Sorrento, with boat rides, and day trips to Capri, there are great day hikes, or move on to a stays on in those resorts. The hotel is extremely clean, the rooms good sized and the staff is helpful gracious . Ask for room with balcony. This is ideal hotel for the price in the area. We had a wonderful time -- (ask ahead for referral cab transportation from Naples airport)

For 3 weeks of each year I need to be in Pompeii for work. I have always stayed at the Villa dei Misteri and would not stay anywhere else in Pompeii or Naples. The hotel is a family run property and the staff are courteous, friendly and helpful.
The hotel is clean and quiet with good amenities. The rooms have comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. No standard showers in the room but a bathtub with shower head for those who need to stand to wash. The housecleaning service does a great job and the restaurant too provides fine well prepared meals. This is not a fancy establishment but a nice clean and affordable one. The pool in summer is spotless and welcome relief on a hot day as are the air conditioned rooms.
Will stay there every time.

I have been staying at this hotel for 3 weeks each summer since 2006 and I have visited this hotel at other times of the year. I enjoy staying here very much and I have recommended it to many friends and have brought people with me many times.

I enjoy staying here because the hotel is clean, safe and run by a lovely family who go out of their way to assist you in any way that they can. A variety of languages are spoken by the staff, including English. The front desk staff/concierge are friendly and frequently have helped me with a range of things from arranging travel in the local area to confirming opening times to emergency car breakdowns out of town and hospital and doctor visits. I know it sounds like quite a lot, but we visit for several weeks a year so these are regular occurrences.

The rooms are a good size with plenty of extra space; I have stayed in several rooms inside the main hotel building and in the rooms surrounding the pool area. Each room has a wardrobe, possibly a desk or chest of drawers, and a bed. It isn't a problem to book a room for single or double use, even a triple. There is an en-suite bathroom of a good size for each room as well. The rooms are typically decorated for this region with tile floors which cope best with the warm summers, and the balcony off the rooms in the main hotel are fantastic places to sit out and/or dry any laundry you may have because a drying rack is provided. The rooms are cleaned daily by very nice ladies who are very trustworthy. I have never had a problem in the 6 years I have stayed here with anything going missing even when it is left out which is a very good thing. Breakfast is delicious with an assortment of croissants, yogurt, meats & cheese, and fruits as well as coffee, tea and fruit juice. Dinner is available at the restaurant if that's what you'd like to do. You can purchase wireless internet for a small hourly fee and parking is available.

I think that some of the other reviewers' comments are unfair. The hotel doesn't claim to be a 5-star hotel and you don't pay 5-star prices to stay here. What you get is a safe, friendly, clean and comfortable hotel and that's why we have come back year after year and my friends and I will in the future continue to do so. This is in addition to the fact that the hotel has a pool for use in the summer months and is located a 5 min walk from both the Porta Marina entrace of Pompeii's ancient ruins and the Circumvesuviana stop at "Pompei-scavi Villa dei Misteri".

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Villa dei Misteri for five nights in late May 20011.

The hotel is located a short walk from the Porta Marina entrance to the ruins of Pompeii and the Villa dei Misteri Circumvesuviana train station. This makes it very convenient to visit the archeology museum in Naples and the ruins of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis, and several others located near train stations. The museum, ruins, and transportation are included in the Archeologia del Golfo Campania Artecard sold at the gift shop at the Porta Marina entrance for 30 euros and is valid for 3 days. The Circumvesuviana train also goes to the pretty resort town of Sorrento for an additional fare.

Our hotel room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable with good A/C and a balcony with a rack to dry your clothes Naples style. The hotel pool looked attractive and had a lot of use by guests. The staff was friendly and eager to please. The rate was very reasonable. There were no unpleasant surprises at checkout, a problem I had at another Italian hotel.

The hotel is located on the opposite side of the Pompeii ruins from the pleasant modern city of Pompei, but is connected by local buses. The hotel serves meals (which we did not try) and there are several other restaurants near the ruins entrance and many more in modern Pompei, including McDonald's and Burger King for those with American tastes.

I highly recommend the Hotel Villa dei Misteri, especially for those wanting to visit the archeological sites and the Naples museum.

The rooms had mold on the walls. The dining was terrible. They have a fixed price menu in the lobby and when you get to the dining room, the paper menu at the table was totally different with no prices. The food was terrrible. The staff was not accomodating when we disputed the dinner tab and the false advertising. The pool was not filled. We should have stayed in a better place.
