“Staying for a wedding”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2012

We were staying for a wedding reception held in the hotel. We had booked into an apartment across the road, but when we arrived they felt it was not good enough, at least I think that was the problem. They took us to an apartment 5 minutes walk away, overlooking the bay and we stayed here. We had an amazing view with terrace, rocker swing, sun-loungers, etc. We had a large bedroom, a smaller bedroom area which we used for cases, a large kitchen-dining area fully equipped with cookers, fridge/freezer etc. Good bathroom. We were thrilled, especially when we paid and were charged the same room rate as the other guests.

The hotel staff speak limited English, but we managed to get bottles of wine, coffees etc. when required. The breakfast was adequate - I have had better, but we we got more than good value. Just eat another bread roll or croissant, there were plenty, and they were refilled. We needed to ask for extra coffee, but with the wedding guests being English speaking, I think the hotel were a bit overwhelmed, but they managed brilliantly.

The rooms where some of the guests were staying looked good. The hotel grounds had a swimming pool which was lovely for a swim around. Not Olympic size, but certainly big enough. Sunloungers and chairs around the pool area with parasols. Beautiful gardens, with lemon trees everywhere. Very peaceful pool and garden area.

We were staying for a wedding, which was wonderful. I think the caterers were from a restaurant on the island, but we recognised some of the waiting staff. They worked very hard and you could not fault the hotel or the staff.

The hotel is in the centre of the island. We walked to various restaurants at different ports - maybe 10/15 minute walk. We were expecting the island to be less touristy, and although this maybe the case, it is certainly not less busy. Be warned, scooters and cars chase around the narrow "streets" which are almost allleyways, at such speed. We had several taxi rides to the port area for dinner, you almost had to shut your eyes.

All in all we would recommend the Hotel Savoia - but take your phrase book.

Room Tip: We stayed in Apartment Roberto. If you can get this at the room rate, snap it up, although I think...

the hotel itself is ok.
The owner is present wich should be a warantee of service but is not.
They have their regular clients (mostly 3rd age from Napoli) and being a foreign turist, you always have the feeling of disturbing.
Breakfast is a complete DISASTER. Capucino is worst than in an texan fast food.
Theu just don't care about the guests..
Strange sensation that obliged us to leave the hotel sooner than previous..despite the hotel itself was pretty nice.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 10 nights following a few days in Naples. The Island is very picturesque but also very busy in terms of scooters, buses and cars. After a week or so we did feel like we needed a break from the pollution!
That said, the hotel was an oasis of calm. The pool was small but very deep and we were the only people using it betweem the hours of 9 and 5! The hotel is in a good location - pretty central to the whole island. Regular buses to the main town stop outside the hotel entrance. You struggle to eat badly on the island, all the meals were ate were delicious, and very cheaply priced. Most main dishes were 5 euros and house wine was a couple of euros for a carafe. The local seafood was fantastic. The beaches are ok, some are more windswept than others and there is an excellent shallow beach in a cove about 15 mins walk from the hotel.
BEWARE, I emailed the hotel in advance to confirm my booking but on arrival they made a mistake and had us booked in for our stay from two days later! It was all sorted out in the end but as neither myself or my girlfirend are not Italian speakers it was hard to sort out. A dictionary is a must for this island if you don't speak Italian.

  • Liked — Great grounds and pool
  • Disliked — They messed up our booking

We visited the amalfi coast and decided to stay on the island of procida. (naples to procida - ferry 45 minutes about 10euros single) We stayed at the savoia hotel, which is 90 euros a night for a double room, nice big room high ceiling mediteraneean feel with balcony overlooking lemon groves. the hotel pool was small didnt go in it. Theres also a large communal balcony with distant sea views that was lovely!
The family run hotel is well worth a visit- its 10 euros for a taxi to the port but the island bus L2 stops outside and all buses stop down the road (5 min walk)
the hotel is in aresidential area about 25 min walk (frequent buses though) to the marina grande and about 15 mins to corricela marina.
the island is lovely but be warned take a dictionary- we struggled a little with language by not knowing much italian in restaurants. the people on the island are all friendly/helpful, nicer than big cities. id love to go back!
