When I booked the hotel I had no idea what to expect, and was quite scared after reading some of the reviews but upon arrival the hotel was beautiful. Our room (in the basement) was great(minus a few broken things, but you can't expect everything to be perfect). The staff was great as well! They held our bags for us so we can go to the Vatican and colosseum before it was time to check in. The breakfast was very decent. The location was perfect, not too close but not too far. It was less than a ten minute walk to the train and only a 2 mile walk to different things within Rome. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful, a converted Italian villa. We were so impressed upon arrival, better still to meet a lovely helpful and friendly receptionist.
My husband had e-mailed ahead to tell them it was my birthday and they had sorted a gorgeous room overlooking the garden for us.
Only 10mins(brisk walk) from the metro taking you straight in to Rome at the Colosseum.
Friendly restaurants nearby and shops.
Roof garden when the suns out it was for us perfection.
Can not wait to go again. Thank Amina

We stayed at the Hotel Principe Torlonia over the late May Bank Holiday. The trip was a surprise for my partner's birthday and the hotel certainly didn't disappoint. Lovely big room with great bathroom. Staff could not have been more helpful, they were just lovely. The buffet breakfast was good (better than expected to be honest) and the hotel has a lovely dining setting. Nearest Metro about 5 minutes walk (Bologna) and we got around using the Metro so easily. We would definitely choose this hotel again.

Room Tip: Room 5 on the ground floor is a lovely room but if you are not an early riser you may be woken prema...

Torlonia is my favourite 'sensibly priced' hotel in Rome. It's only a short taxi ride from Termini station, The rooms are a good size, the hotel is well located, wifi is good but patchy, breakfast selection is good, except the 'fruit juice'. Awesome coffee.

Room Tip: 201 or 204 ;)

I've stayed at a number of converted mansions in Rome and they have all had their problems from plumbing to AC to small rooms. This place however has been great. A corner room on the second floor had a balcony and two large french doors, a good size shower and tranquil views. The staff were remarkably friendly and the breakfast room had a great view of the tranquil garden where you could sit outside read or just relax. Of course a few minor things as no city maps available and no place to put soap and shampoo while you shower were minor problems mentioned by others. Be sure to ask for an upper floor so you don't end up in the basement which was complained about by other reviewers. An added plus is its closeness to piazza Bologna and the metro. I'd surely stay here again.

This was ideal for our purposes: a visit to family in Rome. The hotel is located in an upmarket residential area near Piazza Bologna, away from the 'tourist hot-spots'. However, central Rome is easily accessible by public transport, and a taxi will get you to Via del Corso in ten to fifteen minutes in off-peak hours. The room was clean and quiet, the room comfortable, the breakfast copious and delicious, and the dawn chorus of a few birds just sublime.

Room Tip: I would avoid the room downstairs near the reception, as it may be noisy, but would recommend going...
