“Weekend away”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

Decided to go for a weekend away in rome with my wife and based on the reviews and price decided to go for this hotel. The hotel is in a very quiet area tucked away. the hotel itself is pretty and clean. the reception staff are very pleasent and helpful. its not a big hotel so you feel like you staying in a exclusive place. the rooms are small, the beds are hard and the breakfast is ok.
the hotel is a 5-10min walk away from the metro and 5 min walk from the bus stop.
there is a nice bar/restraunt near by too. this is a good hotel if you want to get away from the hustle bustle of rome. personally i think its a bit too far from the local metro and next time i would book a hotel closer to one.

Room Tip: i read not to have a ground floor or basement room so thats my tip for this place

Dear Guest,

we thank you for taking the time to write about your stay with us on Tripadvisor.

We are happy to read that our staff have been very helpful to you during your stay and that you enjoyed the quietness of this area, as well as the exclusivity of this boutique hotel.
The hotel is located in the residential Nomentano district and it is easily reachable with both bus and subway, at a walking distance of 5/10 minutes.
Effectively, the quite little distance from the City center gives all our guests the opportunity of enjoying few moments of relax in our peaceful backyard garden or in our wonderful rooftop terrace.

We hope that you will give us the occasion to welcome you back at Hotel Principe Torlonia for your next trip To Rome, despite the distance from the local subway. The calm atmosphere of this area is really worth it.

We stayed for 9 days in this lovely hotel.Statying in room 4 just off reception and didn't find it noisy at all. We had booked a triple room and were not expecting a fold up bed for our 17 year old son this was changed after the first night. The staff were friendly and helpful and our room was kept very clean. The breakfast buffet was great with a good choice and filled us up for the day ahead. We found the location perfect a short walk to the metro with a supermarket and cafés along the way. There are a few restaurants in this area our favourite was Momart just around the corner. It offered a choice of buffet or a la carte the buffet is extremely busy the food was excellent all you can eat for €10.50 and it includes a drink (cocktail)
This hotel is in a quiet residential area with a lovel garden and roof terrace. which we really liked.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your detailed review full of hints. As you have well noticed the hotel is located a stone's throw from the historic center of Rome, yet in an exclusive neighbourhood home of many embassies, surrounded by villas, art galleries and elegant buildings, but away from the hustle which makes it a perfect location for a relaxing holiday.

We await to welcome you back soon.

Kind regards,
Andrea

There are so many good things to say about this hotel. The location is a 1 minute walk to the bus stop and a 10 minute walk to the subway. The hotel is set up with a single front desk with a host or hostess who were very professional and friendly and spoke very good English. The breakfast was fantastic but essentially the same every morning with cappuccinos available upon request. The elevator was a bit small but the bellman was quick to help us with our luggage. There is no restaurant at the hotel so no dinner at the hotel; however, there are some restaurants who deliver. We ordered pizza from MissPizza which was more than adequate. Other restaurants are available but they are about a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. There is a bar downstairs but it closes around 10:30. The hostess set up our shuttle to/from the airport - it costs about 50-60 euros each way and about a 45 minute ride. The hostess helped us with our Rome excursions by setting up tours for us, supplying information, and printing out our plane tickets. The room itself was comfortable and even had bathroom scales which is becoming more important as the airlines are really sticklers about luggage weight. The room was equipped with snacks and drinks (for an extra charge). All in all, it was a lovely hotel.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location suited us, quiet yet public transport (buses, trams and underground) was nearby for travel into the city or out to our convention centre. Breakfast fine, even though the same menu each day.

If the hotel had a restaurant that would have been nice, but of course eating out in Rome is not such a big problem.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a beautiful building and welcoming staff. The check-in was quick, efficient and we received a delicious piece of cake. The room was very impressive, spacious enough and furnished to a high standard, however there were minor flaws such as humidity damage, and some wood root, which fair enough is to be expected from old buildings, this however did not undermine our stay there. The only issue that caused our stay to be very uncomfortable, was a broken air conditioning unit, this coupled with temperatures in excess of 30 degrees, made it difficult to sleep and relax after a long day of sightseeing. We appreciate the fact that things do break, and sometimes there is no immediate repair available, however it was unacceptable that the hotel could not provide a fan, which would have allowed some relief from the temperature. Nonetheless, the hotel did provide an excellent breakfast, to prepare us for a long day on our feet, a comfortable bed, and a supporting staff.

Room Tip: If possible try to get a room that is not located in the basement, as the view to the back gardens a...

We arrived at this hotel for a 3 night stay after having been robbed in Naples. We were still quite shell-shocked and stressed after our ordeal, but as soon as we walked in the doors of Hotel Principe we felt welcomed and relaxed. The reception staff were most attentive, friendly and considerate and helped make our stay most enjoyable. Our room was lovely -large enough, comfortable and very clean and well maintained. We had large windows that overlooked the side garden. We experienced quiet sleeps and were not disturbed at all during our stay.

The breakfast buffet was plentiful and well presented. The pastries and tarts were unbelievable. The staff too, were friendly and most obliging.

We were given easy to follow instructions from Rome Termini Station (via email) and found it an easy walk to either the metro or buses to get us to all the tourist attractions. Whilst not being close to the central parts of Rome, the bonus for us was the quiet suburban location, away from the hustle and bustle.

We'd certainly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had room 03.

The hotel is located in a neighbourhood where you can arrive easily with the metro.
The Reception Desk works very well: kind, fast, and helpful.
Waiters in the breakfast area were kind, and everything was well served.
Even though the room wasn´t big, it was big enough considering that we were in Rome. The backyard garden is very charming, and gives a space of calm and serenity, away from the noisy city.
The design of the entrance, marble floors (or similar), garden, and the building itself is very accurate.
