We had a great time here, it's the perfect location for doing Rome - it's right next to a tube stop, or you can walk to to the Colosseum. Make sure the first time you venture into old Rome, you must walk it as seeing the Colosseum looming in the distance as you get near is a sight to see.

I have read reviews about this hotel that slate the breakfast, but I disagree - it's fine if you're into cereal and average criossants.

It's very clean and the rooms are spacious. What more could you ask for?

Stayed at Blackberry House for 4 nights. Like all the other guests have commented, breakfast is pretty bad: either packaged bread with some kind of syrup inside or chocolate pastries. Definitely not healthy for you to eat everyday. But there's different flavors of coffee and tea at the common area. Owner Barbara meets you when you check-in, and gives you some info about where to go and which bus to take. Bathroom is indeed clean, although it depends really on the hygiene routines of other guests. Bathtub is a bit small and narrow but there is a bidet. You will be given your own set of keys, but they're the traditional kind (a bit dodgy), so make sure you also lock your valuables before you head out. Location is central, about a minute walk from metro station Manzoni and 10 minute walk to the Colosseo. I am also a light sleeper so every time other guests come back late or there's a dog howling (because this B&B is within a compound of apartments), I wake up, so sleep has been interrupted. Overall, you get what you pay for: 60EUR a night in Rome with decent rooms and a central location is quite hard to find.

When you arrive at the front door it looks a little ominous and the rooms are pretty basic but hey, the location is great - just along from the metro, the owner is really nice and very helpful and the place is clean. What more do you need when crashing in Rome? Good value for money!

We stayed at Blackberry House for seven nights in January. The room was decent, simple and clean. There were two bathrooms shared by all guests: one large, one small. The bathrooms were cleaned each morning. Breakfast was packaged pastries, cereals, and juice. We read great reviews about the owner, Barbara, but didn't have much contact with her ourselves. She did provide us with a map and a list of things to see in Rome. It was a bit of a walk to any of the sights, but the B&B is very close to the metro and bus, and within walking distance to the train station.

I traveled here in may 2009 with my Husband and 8 year old daughter. Firstly Barbara who runs the b&b was absolutely lovely and very helpful. We arrived late afternoon and as we walked through the courtyard to get to the apartment even the neighbours were happily pointing us in the right direction. Once there, Barbara immediately showed us to our room. Which had a double and a single bed. It was more than adequate for us. It was basic but very clean. In the morning Barbara always brewed up a fresj flask of Italian coffee. Lovely! Only thing is you have to get in quick if you want to get a cup as the place was fully booked when we were there and obviously most of the guests were coffee drinkers! But it was no problem to Barbara to make a fresh flask if you missed out on the first one. There was also a constant supply of instant coffee and hot water. As other reviews have said the breakfast was fairly basic but it was fine if you just wanted to have something small and quick with your coffee to keep you going before you went out for the day. For me there was a lovely atmosphere there as we met some very nice people and at the end of most days we would share our sightseeing experiences. There was also internet access all day for free. For me it was handy to look up any additional info on the sights in Rome before we visited them.
Overall, we loved our stay here and would come back again. The only downside for me was the shared bathroom. I have no complaints about the cleanliness as the bathrooms we spotless. However I did have one quite embarrasing experience in that one person using the bathroom had forgotten to lock the bathroom door and I walked in on him. So just make sure you lock the door and just to be on the safe side knock before you walk in!

As many other people have said, Barbara is an amazing hostess. She took the time to talk about the sights and provided us with a map of the city. The Blackberry Inn was perfect for us: clean, comfortable, and close to the metro station (manzione). It was very easy to get around Rome, and we had a great stay here!

The best thing about this BnB is the owner, Barbara. She's very gracious, helpful and attentive. We had an early flight out of Rome and so we had to leave early, but she left a tray of breakfast goodies in our room the night before. She also arranged for our taxi ride to the airport.

The location can't be beat. It is very close to the Manzoni metro station and the Colosseum is within walking distance.

The major issue that I had with the Blackberry House was the shared bathroom and toilet. We actually stayed in the Blackberry Inn, which was a few yards away from BH. There were 4 rooms sharing 1 bath/toilet, 1 was a quad, and the other 2 were either a triple or double. So imagine how busy it can get in the morning and early evening. It can also get messy.

But for the price and location, it was alright.
