We had a wonderful first 4 days in Rome, Paolo was terrific. He was very considerate to show us the best places to eat, food shop and sites to see. We were in the Yellow room and was spacious for 3. The ability to access the kitchen anytime made it convenient to our schedule. The location of the Arches on Bartolommeo was perfect for the mom and pop shops that sell cheeses, meats, bread, wines. Also for restaurants. We also stayed in their new location in the blue room. This is in a more upper end of town location. However within 1 block you are at the metro, grocery store and a few restaurants and shops. I think it is a bit pricier in the shops but still a great location.

Pricing is wonderful, we traveled the 2nd week of November during their low season. Highly recommend this company!

we were in Rome and we enjoyed Arches b&b; Paolo is very nice and he gave us all the tips we needed to have a great experience; All the staff, Chiara, Fabio and Massimo, is very helpful!!! they speak english and PORTUGUÊS, and it was very important for us because our english is not very good...
Location is GREAT!!!! close to metro and bus stop, and you can reach Vatican city, Vatican Museum and other monuments by walking.
The room, we got the blue one, was large and clean;
I definitly reccommend it and....thank you guys for all!!!
Edter

Room Tip: the blue room is very good!!!!

The Yellow room is where my family of 4 stayed and we absolutely loved it. The room was very large. The pillows and bed were better then the places we stayed in across Italy, France, and Germany. The shower was very large. large enough for my wife and I to share with room to spare. The breakfast was perfect for the family and especially the kids who are 10 and 11 years old. The room had its own bathroom and shared a common room for dining and a kitchen with only 2 other rooms. It was located in a safe looking area and close to the Metro (2 minute walk) and the Vatican museum. The most impressive aspect was care that Fabio took to tending to our needs. We did not have to go to the counter to check out because he came to us and upon our asking immediately (we waited only 3 minutes in the garden area) a cab was there to take us to the airport and on to our next city.

Room Tip: If you have a family of 4 choose the yellow room. This was really the best place we slept in.

Very conveniently located near good non-touristy restaurants and the Vatican museum. Clean, except for the shower which didn't drain well. The hotel keeper insisted on being paid in cash--so keep that in mind. Otherwise very friendly and clean and affordable!! Nice place.

We were about 30 minutes late arriving due to our train from Florence had mechanical issues.
No one was there to greet us. It took us about 30 to 40 minutes to locate someone that could contact the owner then we had to wait an additional 30 minutes for him to arrive.
The bath water was freezing cold and the floors were not the cleanest.
Then to top it off they over charged me 129 Euro's in which I didn't realize until after check out. I emailed Fabio and we discussed the issues and he refuses to refund my money.
Also, this place is not close to the Vatican- it is quite a walk- we took a cab .

Not a genuine review...

Please take a minute with google maps: Rome/directions from either of our addresses to the vatican Museums: 750 to 850 meter, 10 to 11 minutes walking (the shortest way takes even less) it will help you understand how genuine the reviewer's been with us.....

The 129 euro charge she is reffering to is about half the cancellation policy she was supposed to pay.
She subscribed the Venere reservation for two rooms for three nights and forgot to cancel them before re-booking two more rooms. They arrived the following day without any advise, they didn't cancel the reservation, they didn't tell us it was the same party until they got there. As one of her companions took an extra room paid by herself for two days the reviewer thought we would not debit the no-show according to the cancellation policy subscribed, and when we actually did we debited only half we were supposed to, (only one room instead of two). She texted me with her mobile the next morning before leaving the apartment we had overcharged by mistake, (she paid cash and so she must have been aware and furthermore I had specified upon arrival she was paying only one extra night). Although she would have been able to contact us right away and we would have been available anytime she only did so because of the overcharge and a week later she wrote to us, we explained her once again what we have just written here and here she comes a month later with her amusing review.

as for the cold water and floors we were only told by email days after they left when they arised the over charge issue. That's quite funny as the evening before they left we greeted with their utmost enthusiasm for us, for the apartment and for the area They also added they would definetely recommend us to everyone.

They arrived more than 2 hours later than they'd advised. I cannot tell how long it took them to get someone to call me, but I was definetely there in less than 15 minutes, I wish they had advised about their 2 hours' delay. They would have not waited a minute.

Three nights in Rome at the Arches B&B (Sep 20 - 23, 2013). The arches has three large rooms with private bathroom available. Rooms were clean and bright, the bathrooms were spacious and had private showers. A shared kitchenette with amenities provided by the hosts for hot drinks, juices, pastries for a quick breakfast. The location of the B&B is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Vatican City and about 5 minutes from the metro (Ottaviano on the A line). Set in a residential area, we found ourselves away from the main tourist crowds and could access restaurants and stores used by the local residents. Paolo, who met us, was friendly and very engaging - we knew we were in good hands when he spent 10 minutes giving us hints about where to go to get good food in the area. In particular, try out L'Osteria dell Angelo down the block, and definitely try the gelato at Fatomorgana which is opposite the B&B.

Room Tip: The Green and Blue rooms have balconies; the yellow room overlooks the street and you could sometime...
