“wonderful and romantic”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

The hotel exceeded our expectations: the staff was kind and helpful, the building magnificent, and the courtyard a real pleasure. We would definitely return. Even the fact that the hotel is a little removed from the bustle of the main attractions proved a plus -- it's only a 10 minute walk from campo di fiori, and the neighborhood is delightful.

Great place to stay. Nice and quiet, good food, very friendly and helpful staff, perfect bed, excellent shower - an oasis of order, regularity, comfort and tranquility and a city that is not.

This hotel is located on the edge of the artistic quarter up towards the middle of the hill on the Western side of the River Tiber. It makes a good location for walking to restaurants and is about 25 minutes walk to the Vatican and the plundered ancient ruins that once were Rome.

The hotel is located in a quiet part of Trastevere and is an very easy walk over the river to the central part of Rome. it is a former convent designed by Borromeo and is very atmospheric, with a delightful central courtyard full of trees and flowers where you can have breakfast or a pre-dinner drink in good weather.
The staff were friendly and extremely professional and all speak good English.
Our room was spacious, very comfortable and decorated in muted greens. It had a balcony with lovely views.
Breakfast is excellent and international papers are available.
We found this hotel to be absolutely charming and the Trastevere location is unbeatable. We would definitely stay there again.

I was here for two nights attending meetings in Rome, one on site. I arrived before check in and the room was not ready, so I took a seat in the lovely (and peaceful) interior garden on what was a beautiful sunny day. I relaxed for an hour or so with the most delicious sparkling lemonade (taste influenced by surroudings I propose!) I even had time to finish my presentation. Once the room was ready, I was led up and down a few sets of steps to the rear of the property (read: not the most condusive for ease of moving a suitcase packed for two weeks in Europe). It was very quaint that one needs an actual key for the door, and "quaint" would be the how I would describe the room. But hey, these are former nuns quarters. The bed was comfortable and the shower small but adequate. Don't expect lavish. No view but again I was in the back on the bottom floor. The day of of the onsight meeting we were treated to a tour of the building and church (not sure if available to the general public but worth asking) which was lovely. I can't vouch for the breakfast but the lunch they served us was very tasty. The area the hotel is located can't be beat (Trastevere) and is in walking distance to many lovely restuarants and bars. Staff was pleasant enough. There was no hot water the second morning (ah Europe!) but I cared not. If nuns bathed in cold water for centuries here, so could I! Yes, very pious of me.

With the location in a more quiet part of Trastevere, close to the bustling summer nightlife along the TIber and with walking distance to almost everywhere in ancient Rome (if you like to walk), I had high expectations. The hotel itself is beautiful, walking in at night very romantic and having breakfast in the garden wonderful. We had a room with a private balcony with wonderful views, but no chairs to sit outside to enjoy it. The room was large and clean. Bed was large and comfortable, although it lacked extra pillows (which I probably would have gotten had I asked). The enitre experience was nice, but overall this hotel lacks the "little oomph" that would have heightened the experience above average (especially when you take the price into consideration). A price for which you can stay many nicer places with the added charm you want when in Rome.

A fantastic luxory and quite hotel in the heart of Trastevere. Great position near the city center but not so busy. Nice and clean rooms, great service, good breakfast and the plus of the internal car parking. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi was not available in the rooms.

Yes the hotel is beautiful but the rooms are less than expected for the price!
The rooms are just average at best and they told us they had upgraded us to a deluxe executive suite when we checked in. If that was an upgrade, what are the other rooms like.
Very, very average.
We have paid less for better rooms in this area.
It was just a bed, a desk and a chair.
Yes, a super nice bathroom with separate enclosed shower which was great.
I think it was considered executive deluxe because of the shower and end of a long hall which gave us views out of several windows facing different directions.
We had to call the front desk to get a room service menu and we were just looking for maybe dessert and coffee.
Gelato was on the room service menu, but we were informed they did not have any.
No gelato in Italy?
Almost impossible to get someone to take a drink order in the lobby area across from the bar.
At almost $500 a night, we would never stay here again.
