For visiting Rome at a good price, this is an excellent choice. It is in walking distance from the Tuscolana train station (which leads directly to the Fiumicino airport), and even closer to the subway Punto Lungo (which is 5 or so stops away from Termini).
Nearby is the excellent restaurant 'Buono', which we found to be better than the ones we visited nearer to the center of Rome.

Leonard and his granddaughter were very friendly people, we even received some personal presents from them during our stay!
The rooms are decent and cool (in this case lacking a large window was a plus), breakfast is simple with packaged croissants, but you'll probably be on your way into Rome early anyway. The shower could have been cleaner but there was more than enough hot water.

just spent seven days in rome staying at one of lenardos propertys and as avid b and b users my wife and i have given lenardo top spot in our league table.this gentleman goes out of his way to ensure that you have a wonderful time on your holiday.being scottish we are not fluent in italian(only know about three words)but lenardo overcame this problem by contacting one of his friends,of which he has many,by phone to overcome this minor situation.our accomodation was spotless and had amenities in excess of what we expected.it is very close to ponte lungo metro station which is a great way to get around and see the sites of rome.local family run shops are on your doorstep here supplying fresh quality items at good prices. being scottish we try to find good value for money places to stay and this is such a place with a fantastic host.could fill a book in praise of this accommodation and its owner but suffice to say that it is the only accommodation we will stay in when we visit rome again which we hope to do as soon as possible.thank you lenardo and friends for the wonderful memories.david and dianne

Overall a very average stay. The location was decent - far away from the main attractions, but close to the metro station. While we were there, there was a strike so that metro/bus were unusable for much of the day - making the location awful. The breakfast was terrible - Leonard made good coffee/tea to go with packaged pastries equivalent to the wonderbread and twinkies of America. The beds were rock hard and uncomfortable. All in all, if I had paid more for this B&B I would've been upset - but for its price it is what it is.

The place is in a very good location, just a little walk away from the metro station. It's a long walk from attractions such as the Colosseo, though. But the walk is beautiful. Our rooms were very clean, perfectly spacious, and had clean towels and good televisions. There is a very nice air conditioner system as well. I would definitely come back again! I loved my time here.

I recently returned from a lovely 5 day holiday in Rome. I stayed with my family at Leonard B&B after reading so many wonderful reviews on this site and I must say that I wasn't disappointed. Signor Leonardo is a friendly, generous host who kindly met us at the train station and even took us back on our last day to save us the trouble of walking for about 15 minutes dragging our luggage behind us. He was always helpful without being too intrusive and even surprised us with a 'panettone' on New Year's Eve, something we never expected! He only speaks Italian but his daughter can help if you don't speak the language. The bedroom was basic but roomy with an adjoining bathroom. The shared kitchen was well-equipped and so convenient to make coffee or to cook a simple lunch.
It was only a five-minute walk to Ponte Lungo metro station, five stops south of Termini, not terribly far from the centre. The area around the B&B is quiet and refreshingly ordinary, with the locals going about their business. All in all, a bargain for the price if you are not looking for luxury.

Staying at the Bed & Breakfast Leonard was a highlight of our visit to Rome. Mr. Leonard only knows a few words in English, but the Bed and Breakfast is a family affair, and other members, like Leonard's very capable granddaughter, Iole, helped us negotiate the language barriers. Honestly, we enjoyed the language situation a lot because it gave us a good excuse to practice our Italian. By the end of the trip, I was actually translating a family's order for a confused waiter.

The accommodations at the Bed & Breakfast are clean, comfortable, and spacious. Guests also have access to the fully equipped kitchen, and it was nice to take a break from eating out and cook a few evenings during our stay. Since free wifi is difficult to find in Rome and international data roaming is exorbitant, it was a definite boon that Mr. Leonard offered complimentary wireless at the Bed & Breakfast. But the best amenities offered at Bed & Breakfast Leonard are Mr. Leonard and his family. During our stay, they went out of their way to help us and make us comfortable, from suggesting places to eat and visit to doing our laundry for us. Mr. Leonard's granddaughter even prepared a typical dinner for us one night. I'm not sure if they do this for everyone, but we couldn't believe we were getting such extensive service.

The Bed & Breakfast is in one of the few non-touristy quarters (Via Appia Nuova/Tuscolana) within the city limits, which in our opinion was a plus. Sure, you could pay a premium to roll out of bed and see the Pantheon outside your window, but for us it was nice to come 'home' at night to a neighborhood that was full of Romans instead of tourists. Although the Bed & Breakfast itself is on a quiet side street, it's only two blocks from, the Via Appia Nuova, a bustling tree lined boulevard that has dozens of shops, boutiques, bars, restaurants, and, most importantly, gelaterias!

There was no problem getting to the sights, because the B&B is just around the corner from both a metro station and bus stops. Also, it is only about a five-minute walk to a regional train station (Tuscolana), providing inexpensive, quick, and easy access to Fiumicino Airport on the FR1 train. We never felt like we needed a taxi to get around, and felt like we got to see quite a lot during our seven day visit to Rome.

The charming and courteous Mr. Leonard and his family made us feel at home in Rome; we didn't want to leave. We would recommend this Bed & Breakfast to our friends with no reservations and would be happy to stay there again!

Ciao,
Brett & Scott

If what you are looking for is the chance to see how real Romans live in residential Rome, with the chance for local shopping, local food and a delightful market close by, then this is just the spot for you. Leonards B and B is very reasonably priced and clean with cooking facilities, a good working bathroom, very close to the metro and approx 5 stops to the centre (i.e. the Termini and the Spanish steps) and an overground station within a 10 minute walk - great for getting to and from the airport and for visits out of the city. It is also a 15 minute walk to San Giovanni, and not much further to the Coloseum. Leonard himself is personable, friendly and willing to help with local info and advice. We really enjoyed our stay, and were glad of the chance to try and cook Roman style for ourselves. It meant we were not so dependent on pricey restaurants.
Thanks Leonards B and B for a great away break!
