Description: The restaurant opened in 1935 as a typical Roman general store licensed to sell and also to supply food and drink; tables were available for clients to eat their meals made with products either bought in store or brought from home. Housed in a period building of King Umberto I (1885), a few steps from the Roman gate at Porta Pia, today TRATTORIA CORIOLANO continues to be the favourite meeting place for lovers of both tradition and good food. A welcoming atmosphere, a warm and homely environment, a scent of wood which colours the walls chestnut brown; wood panelling, pictures and various memorabilia, a blend of tastes past and present.Seasonal products, homemade delicacies. Roman traditions are followed and contemporary dishes are offered together with the best specialities of Roman cooking.TRATTORIA CORIOLANO, an historic place abreast of the times, that remembers its origins.

“Great Restaurant in Rome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

We found this restaurant near our hotel and were amazed by how charming, delicious and calm this restaurant was. It is a fancy restaurant yet the prices are really reasonable. We were only with local Italians and it was wonderful to be in a restaurant that cooked local Roman food (not the same as Italian food in general). We had delicious starter of meat cheese and homemade bread (all so delicious) and a great bottle of red wine. We then had the tuna and the veal. It was so delicious and typical Roman. The owners and servers were delightful and always making sure we had everything we wanted! We highly recommend going there for at least one night! Truly worth it.

“A very special place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2014

This is a family owned and run business near Porta Pia.

We dined in this restaurant on two consecutive nights. We found the atmosphere to be relaxed and very pleasant - the decor was classy with wood panelling and soft lighting.

The waiting staff were friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable and had what we needed.

The menu was extensive and the food, when it arrived, was superb, cooked to a beautifully high standard.

Everything about this restaurant is superb. We will definitely return next time we are in Rome.

“Three times top.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2014 via mobile

First night in Rome looking for a restaurant close to our hotel, we choose Coriolano. It looked full but fortunately one table for two was free. We were the only non-Italians and noticed all guests were regulars. So many locals is a good sign.
We had an excellent diner with a good prosecco. At leaving we made a reservation for the next evening.
The second night we were welcomed as friends like the Italian regular guests.
We again loved all courses and the 'Brut'. Recommendation for dessert: my spouse loved the Millefoglie.
The next day we intended to dine in Trastevere, but we found out that we would need 3 buses back to our hotel.
So I called Coriolano to reserve a table and again we had an excellent diner. Both had Millefoglie for dessert, so nice!!
We highly recommend this restaurant for the excellent food, the warm atmosphere and the very friendly staff. We will come back on our next trip to Rome.

“Outstanding again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2014 via mobile

Well worth the journey. Outstanding meal with a wide variety of different wines. Starter of cooked and raw seafood well presented. Carpaccio faultless. Selection of pasta dishes all well presented. Five different main courses were all correctly cooked. Friendly helpful service.(our booking was incorrectly made by us, but this was sorted with a smile!)
