We just ate here. The whole experience was average. We were asked for our order several times by multiple people. The bread was dry and hard. Both pasta first courses were good but the chicken entree tasted like very poor quality meat and lacked flavor. Didn't find any hidden charges and we declined the meat/chese started. Overall, was a very middle of the road experience. Would not recommend.

Food was not bad. Antipasti was pricey, they were on the table by default, you could ask the waitress to take them away. Also beware of hidden coperto. It's a shame. :-(

We loved the local feel of this restaurant. Family owed and the food was fantastic. If we are fortunate enough to return to Rome we will also return to Sanopadre.

I have been to Rome many, many times- and one of my highlights is my dinner at Santopadre.
Don't expect to find English translations and a place full of tourists.....this is where Romans go for dinner. You must book it in advance- because particularly on the weekends its not easy to get a table.

Now about the food! It is simply perfect. From the antipasto- to the meatballs....this poached chicken in balsamic that I have not been able to duplicate....and on to the main course if you can fit anymore food. The pastas are excellent - I have not eaten the meats- but others travelling with me rave.

It is a destination- and worth the trip. if you need to go out of your way to eat there- please do.

The owner Giorgia is a real character- and does not really speak English....but everyone there will bend over backwards to make sure you get the perfect meal.
Its clear this family takes pride in what they prepare and are committed to serving you the best meal of your trip

Like any big city there are plenty of mediocre restaurants. This is a shining star in my opinion. Get in a taxi and go.

As an aside- after dinner there is a small gourmet shop with all kinds of products from Italy- and a very interesting owner who will tell you all about it. The Barollo linguine is a winner to take home- and wild oregano. Its great if you are a foodie.

The place is certainly family run>

food on the table, starters, and you just dig in, plus you order later first and second course.
no menue, i know this seems like a tourist trap but actually is not, just different.

All quite tasty, local wine at a acceptable price. no Barolos, as they do not fit the food.

I left with a good feel and a great night out.

Bill was 250 Euro for 5, although if you pay cash / discounts possible!
