If I was to describe my perfect hotel from which to explore Rome, it would be the Monte Cenci:
✓ centrally located, walking distance to all the major sites
✓ walking distance to restaurants and cafes
✓ friendly and helpful staff
✓ very comfortable mattress
✓ great breakfast
✓ located up a small cobblestone street, very close to major streets but tucked away from the noise and bustle
✓ boutique hotel in a centuries-old building
✓ rooftop terrace

The hotel staff and manager (Paolo) were great before we even arrived. They answered all our emails and questions quickly. We arranged for airport pickup, and they sent us the contact info the for driver (which was fortunate, as there was a mix-up with the terminal, but we just WhatApp'd the driver and he came right over).

At the hotel, the check-in was very efficient. We had a coffee on the rooftop, and Paolo came by to welcome us.

We had two weeks in Rome, and the hotel was the perfect location to walk everywhere. We were lucky that there was no rain the whole time, but I did notice that there were a bunch of umbrellas by the entrance for the guests, which is a nice touch.

Breakfasts were great, the standard buffet stuff, but very tasty. They take your order for tea / coffee / cappuccino etc, and also it's also possible to get eggs to order (if you don't want the scrambled eggs). On some days, it got a bit crowded cause everyone came for breakfast at the same time, but it's also possible to eat on the terrace which is covered and has heat lamps (we were there in Dec/Jan and it's a bit chilly overnight)

We usually prefer to find our own restaurants for dinner when traveling. However we were much better received when we went with Paolo's suggestions and name-dropped :) Paolo knows quite a few of the restauranteurs and when we said we were from the Monte Cenci, we were treated like locals :)

We were also upgraded for part of our stay, which was very nice of the hotel.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and very helpful.

Another nice touch is the free smart phone provided to guests, with data and calling! We used it quite a bit when walking about.

The wifi is very fast. The TV in every room is the router, so it's always a strong signal.

Checking out was also handled very efficiently, especially given our early flight.

Overall I was very impressed with the Monte Cenci. It really became part of our Rome experience. I'd definitely stay there again if we are in Rome in the future.

We spent a new year in this lovely hotel and felt like home from the moment we arrived. Beautiful, clean rooms, nice breakfast, cozy rooftop terrace bar. Just a walk away from all the main attractions.

Best part is the staff. This is how you treat your customers; always smiling and being helpful, offering warm-hearted welcome once you arrive.

They arranged us a table for new years eve from a great Trastevere restaurant and offered a tasty little snack pre-party at the rooftop terrace to all customers.

Grazie mille Paolo & staff!

We stayed here for 5 days on our first trip to Rome. The hotel was very nice, clean and well-appointed. Great location, near everything we wanted to do. What truly separates the experience from other hotels was the attentiveness of the staff and their ability to help tourists navigate Rome. Paolo, the General Manager, and the front desk staff are quite knowledgeable and helpful. His recommendations for sites to see and food were spot on. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back.

Great location for foodies with Trastevere across the river, and great for the ancient Rome sites within a short walk. Was upgraded to the best double at hotel and boy was it comfortable. Great breakfast choice. And best of all lovely staff.

I'm glad we read reviews on the location of the hotel's entrance (down a narrow alley way), it was just as described. The hotel was located right at the river in between the main tourist area and the Trastevere / Jewish Ghetto neighborhoods, which was perfect because those were all the areas we wanted to visit. There are central taxi waiting areas just a couple blocks away.
The daily breakfast (included) was very tasty, much better than our usual continental in the states. Staff was very friendly and recommended useful routes and restaurants for our trip. Bed was very comfortable. We would definitely recommend and come again.

Room tip: their deluxe rooms have much nicer bathrooms if you want a very romantic feel to the trip, the basic ones are just fine.
