This hotel is very close to Termini station which is a bonus for travellers! They also offer a fantastic shuttle service (quite cheap too) from Fuimicino Airport to the hotel and back! Our room was very spacious, very clean and spotless! Bathroom was very clean, modern and with complimentary toiletries. Staff were helpful too. As other reviews have stated, breakfast is a very basic buffet and everything is self service as waiters were nowhere in sight. Unfortunately the rooms do not have tea/coffee facilities and after a long day sightseeing you have to go downstairs to the bar for a cuppa instead.

With under three days in Rome, my partner and I needed a hotel that was centrally located so we could maximize our time. Augusta Lucilla Palace was a fine choice. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is located very close to Termini Station, making it easy to catch a train to other cities in Italy or to catch the Metro line to the major tourist attractions in Rome. Although some people have described the area around Termini as sketchy, I never felt unsafe walking around at night. The neighborhood is touristy full of small hotels, so I imagine it's relatively well-policed.

Our double room on the top floor was very modern, with a sparkling bathroom and working A/C. However, it was extremely small (not uncommon for Italy) -- there was just enough room to walk around the bed and not much more. We did not encounter any problems with noise at night.

The hotel staff was helpful, providing maps and making calls to museums for reservations. Their attitude was very much a down-to-business one, though, so don't expect to be greeted with warm smiles and inquiries about your stay.

The dining room was large, with many breakfast options -- sliced meats, eggs, croissants, juice, yogurt, fruit salad, etc. The pastries were sometimes burnt and much of the fruit obviously came from a can. You're not going to be blown away by breakfast, but it's edible and can hold you over. (Also on the subject of food: Don't expect too much from the restaurants in the immediate vicinity -- they cater to tourists and the food is subpar.)

There is a charge for using Wi-fi.

Augusta Lucilla Palace isn't going to be memorable, but it is up to modern standards and is situated in an ideal location.

This hotel is situated within 2 blocks or Termini which is the central depot for travel in Rome. We walked with our suitcases to the hotel after taking the train from Fiumicino. The hotel was very quiet at night, the air conditioning worked(hooray as it was 90 degrees outside) the rooms were surprisingly spacious, there were many nice eateries, and it was within a 15 to 20 minute walk to the majority of the cities famous sites. My husband, daughter, her boy friend and I shared a very spacious suite. Would happily stay there again if the occasion arose. They also had a great tear off map that was our "bible" for our stay. Make sure to make reservations in advance for Vatican Museum. It is worth every penny as you walk past the hundreds of people broiling in line in the hot sun!

We found reception staff very helpful and they spoke excellent English. Breakfast plentiful but boring. This was a good location as we were going out of the Terminii Station to Civitavechia to join a cruise. Many restaurants within a short distance of hotel.

We stayed at the Augusta Lucilla Palace for 3 nights during our stay in Rome. The room was comfortable as was the bed. The bathroom was a little on the small-ish side but was extremely clean! The front-desk staff were helpful and was able recommend several restaurants. The breakfast was just ok. I did not expect much, so my expectations of the breakfast was not diminished. The location was extremely convenient, about a two minute walk to the main train station and bus terminal.

The Augusta Lucilla is beautifully appointed, but after that they fall very short. The staff is border line rude. They would not try to help us with anything unless we purchased it from them such as a tour we pre-purchased and were having trouble contacting. The food was terrible and the wait staff was non existent. I called for a wake up, but it never happened. I tried to call the front desk and no one would answer the phone. so I went to the front desk and found three of the front desk people standing between the street and the entrance smoking while the phones were still ringing. If it was considered a two star hotel I probably would not be complaining. The only professional there was the bell hop

Good choice. Location could have been a bit more closer to the attractions, but easy walking distance everywhere still. Rooms were clean, quite spacious and quiet. Breakfast was also good. Only problem was that we had two separate beds (but that was to be expected in the reservation).
