I almost rated this hotel as very good, though the truth is closer to average by world standards and you should read of a range of reviews here -- excellent through terrible -- before you decide. Most reviews contain elements of truth, though some are exaggerated. First of all, hotels are very, very expensive in Rome. For the same money we got a delightful four-star boutique hotel in Florence, and also better and cheaper hotels in Austria and the Czech Republic, but -- again -- this is Rome. The manager was at every stage patient an helpful in giving directions and sharing guidance about Roman spots. The room was a bit small and spartan; the hair dryer didn't work and the shower head was a bit of an issue, but manageable. Breakfast consists of croissants, jam, butter and coffee -- all served in the room, not the big breakfast spreads we found elsewhere at comparable or lesser prices. A bit noise (outside noise), but we were so tired from walking around Rome and fighting the crowds that we went almost instantly to sleep, so the acceptable level of noise really didn't matter. If you're coming from Rome Termini, try to find out ahead of time from the manager which bus stops (two very close to the hotel) you can get off at. It will save you a walk and you should be able to find buses (two stops) coming from Rome Termini.
