“Average (and not a value by non-Rome standards), Maybe Better”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

I almost rated this hotel as very good, though the truth is closer to average by world standards and you should read of a range of reviews here -- excellent through terrible -- before you decide. Most reviews contain elements of truth, though some are exaggerated. First of all, hotels are very, very expensive in Rome. For the same money we got a delightful four-star boutique hotel in Florence, and also better and cheaper hotels in Austria and the Czech Republic, but -- again -- this is Rome. The manager was at every stage patient an helpful in giving directions and sharing guidance about Roman spots. The room was a bit small and spartan; the hair dryer didn't work and the shower head was a bit of an issue, but manageable. Breakfast consists of croissants, jam, butter and coffee -- all served in the room, not the big breakfast spreads we found elsewhere at comparable or lesser prices. A bit noise (outside noise), but we were so tired from walking around Rome and fighting the crowds that we went almost instantly to sleep, so the acceptable level of noise really didn't matter. If you're coming from Rome Termini, try to find out ahead of time from the manager which bus stops (two very close to the hotel) you can get off at. It will save you a walk and you should be able to find buses (two stops) coming from Rome Termini.

We went to Rome on holiday for my birthday. We walked from the Termini Station which was not very far. We stayed at this charming B&B in the center of Rome. The proprietor and his employees were excellent and very helpful. Anything we asked for, we received graciously. Thanks very much for all you did to make our stay in Rome a very pleasant one!

Just back from Rome on four day break. Staying at the Maria Luisa which is only approx l5 minutes from Termini Station for good connections to airport. Room basic and clean all thats needed to put head down after a full day sightseeing. Great value for money. Staff very friendly and helpful especially on places to visit and eat.

We arrived to Rome late Sunday and most B&B`s in Rome are inconvenient to access on arrival. Maria Luisa have 24/7 staff and we where warmely greeted. You can walk here from Termini station which have good connections with airports and all visiting places are easy to reach from here. Our room was small, as well as shower, but very clean, so its suitable for couples, not families with children. We had no problem with noise, but you can expect some.
If you want explore Rome and have place to stay without spending a fortune it is highly recomended. You will be treated as most welcommed guest. Do not be surprised when asked to pay city tax which is 2 Euro per person per night, which is not included in original price...

We spent 4 nights in the Maria Luisa during our City break in Roma, the staff were very helpful - info on tour bus, restaurants, places to visit etc – the accommodation was clean, easy to find, close to bus and train station. The rooms were not the biggest I’ve ever stayed in however some 4 star hotels in London are not much bigger and the plan was to explore Roma on not sit in a b&b room all day… great value for money and breakfast served in the room set you up for the first couple of hours each morning.

My husband and I stayed here in September 2012. These wonderful people make you feel like your right at home. Oh my goodness, from the time you come in the door you are greeted with a most welcoming smile and a lovely Bon gourno! you are asked what time you want to wake up and what you would like for breakfast. For heavens sake its even in bed!! Close to everything, and within a few minutes your at some lovely sights. Not far from the termini train station- on foot it will take you approx 10 min with luggage. Beds are comfortable, fresh clean linen daily. The only thing its on the second floor, there is a lift but you have to get up to it, its on the second floor, still reachable. Very safe area and quiet. Wonderful is all around you, just across the street is Gio Vanni's wonderful place, excellent food reasonably priced. Very nice people who treat you with a smile every time. They don't forget a face either, always pleasant.
Mama Luisa makes every effort to ensure your stay is a most pleasant one. On our trip we actually stayed here two times. They accomodated us a second time after we came back from roaming around a different area of Italy, again most pleasant. Please try them.
