“Perfect B&B with great location and great price!”
Reviewed 10 July 2014 via mobile

We stayed at this Inn for 4 nights and it was perfect for us! Very safe and clean, 5 minute walk to the nearest Metro station, 10 minute walk from central train station, and down the street from the stunning Santa Maria Maggiore Cathedral! Very accommodating staff! We missed our train and had to arrive in Rome at 11pm and with a quick email the owner Luca met us at the front door to let us in! We had to provide a small fee for his service but it was well worth our money to have a place to sleep!
Breakfast served to your room at the time of your choosing. Very cute place!

Hi. Great location, Just 10 minuts walk from colloseum , termini train and bus station and few other places. Clean room, simple breakfest served to your room. Very nice and helpfull staff.
Only issue with charging 20 euro for check in after 6pm. We was 6.11pm (Just 11minuts late) and paid 20 euro for late check in. When booked it over expedia did not see this information. But big plus: we had a late Flight and we was able leave bags in hotel and collect them evening time. Overoll nice place to have citybrake and explore one of The gratest city in world. Regards Rob

We stayed at the Cesare Balbo Inn for four nights in the beginning of our two-week Italy trip and two nights at the end. Our experience was fantastic! The rooms are spacious, even for our family of four (two adults, a teenager and a "tween"). Rooms are clean, with soft sheets, warm blankets and comforters, and large fluffy white towels that smelled great. The free wi-fi was SO appreciated by the kids, who used it to send photos of our trip to their friends back home. And the air-conditioning was *by far* the best we'd experienced of the four hotels we visited on this trip.

The location couldn't be better, with close access to wonderful restaurants, stores and major attractions like the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The neighborhood was friendly and seemed safe, even at night.

The best part of our stay, however, was definitely the staff. Glen treated us like part of the family, helping us with everything we needed, even after hours. Glen and Luca were both so hospitable and friendly, and when we returned at the end of our trip after staying at three other hotels, it felt like we were coming home. We would happily stay there again with no hesitation.

Thank you, Glen!!

Room Tip: Room 4 and Room "P" are the quieter rooms, off the street.

The Cesare Balbo Inn is a (family) friendly pension located in the historic center of Rome, where you get value for your money. We stayed 4 nights with my family (5 persons). The pension is clean, the personnel is competent and friendly. Top location: Walking distance to several historic sites and the underground, with restaurants around the corner.

Best regards from Schliengen (Germany).

Room Tip: For the ones not used to city life, with its usual noise, a quiet room at the back side of the inn i...

so well placed for a visit to Rome. The area is full of quaint cobbled streets with numerous little places to eat. Colosseum, Forum etc only 10 mins walk away. Also well placed for the metro. Luca is very helpful and saved us a lot of hassle trying to find the best way to get to the places we wanted to visit. The room was adequate for our family of four, very clean and there was always hot water in the bathroom! Very quiet location, even when there was some building work going on nearby. My only quibble is that I would have liked a kettle in the room to make a brew (I am British after all...) Breakfast is a cup of coffee plus prepacked toast etc - but it is enough to get you going. All in all, an excellent place to stay on a budget and we would go back again!

We found this to be a wonderful location with lots of great local restaurants within walking distance. Luca and Glen went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and helped us plan a stress free visit during a very busy time of the canonization. I emailed Luca the owner and he reserved us many site times which allowed us to avoid standing on line to enter main attractions. The inn is very clean and our room was large for the 2 of us. I could sleep 3-4 but it may be a bit tight. There is no common area to gather a group but when in Rome who wants to stay in a lobby anyway? We stayed for 5 nights, and would go back in a heartbeat. Can't beat this place. Elide T

We stayed here with 2 kids (including 1 large teenager). The room was great with 1 double and 2 single proper beds so nice and comfortable. Location is excellent, just down the road from the Colosseum which was nice for an evening walk. There are plenty of great little restaurants round the hotel and I have added a review for one or two of these. The little square with the fountain has a great evening atmosphere so good place to eat. Glen was great, gave us a map with plenty of tips and they were always on hand to help. Luca was very helpful on email before we arrived as well - nothing too much trouble. Glen sorted us a car back to the airport which I would also recommend if you are not going by bus/train. For middle of Rome I think we paid a good price and were very pleased.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for any help and tips as Glen and Luca were very helpful including before we went...
