Description: Nonna Betta - kosher style cuisine is an authentic Roman Jewish restaurant. Traditional dishes handed down by grandmother Betta are prepared express, using only seasonal ingredients. Among these, our famous fried platters, well loved for their feather-light texture. Aside from the variety with which they rotate, the oil employed for frying is used exclusively for cooking fresh vegetables and cod fillets only, that is never crustaceans or mollusks (that are prohibited) nor frozen products, which are totally missing from our pantry. The restaurant is cozy and pleasant. On the walls are large reproductions of art depicting vignettes of daily life in the Rome Jewish Ghetto before the late 1800s demolitions. In this place, immersed in a relaxed and welcoming setting, you can relive the stories of the Ghetto, and perhaps find answers to questions you "never dared to ask" regarding the Jewish culture, religion or the 2000 year-old presence of Jews in Rome.

If your a foodie, appreciate a good wine list and like banter with the fantastic staff, then come to dinner at Nonna Betta's.
The pasta, lamb , fish , all first class.
The prize goes to the roast vegetables and Roman Artichoke - don't miss this dish!
Lovely staff ,friendly and attentive . Good to go with kids who know how to behave and appreciate good food.

I went to the restaurant based on A.Bourdain recommendation and it was terrible. My main course of eggplant was so microwaved it was stuck to the very small bowl it arrived in. My spinach was a green mush with 5 pine nuts..yes I counted. I returned both uneaten. Equally my gnocchi starter was returned half uneaten as it was too coarse. The really bad thing was not one member of staff cared and the disregard for the customer was too obvious.

First if all--take the picture of A. Bourdain down off of the window. This restaurant needs NO endorsement as the food speaks for itself.
It can get crowded, noisy, and the service may not be the greatest. But the traditional Roman fare is right on the money. If only I could eat there once a week....

The service we received left a lot to be desired including a staff that wasn't really interested in serving our table. My lamb chops were fair, but my wife's pasta was good. The comped mediocre desert did not make up for the atmosphere created by the poor service. (we did not complain to the staff)
