“Tiring but its the Vatican”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

First time I went we got the audio guides - second time we got a guided tour. I preferred the audio guide over a pre-booked guided tour any day. For example they have to explain all about the Sistene Chapel outside the actual chapels as you aren't allowed to talk inside as opposed to an audio guide where you can simply sit and learn about it while in the chapel. The guided tour is really rushed, its hard to follow what the guide is saying, and if you want to stop and enjoy a particular piece its impossible to because before you know if you have to move on to the next. Its exhausting also as you are virtually running the entire time, and not doing it at your own pace.

“Sunny Vatican tour on a rainy day”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

Did not plan to visit the Vatican, but a girl gave us a flyer about a guided tour. We decided to try it. And we were glad we did. Our guide was Deborah. She was very enthusiastic and had a lot of knowledge about the history, the art end people of the Vatican. Told us the story of Michelangelo and the painting of the Sistine Chapel. And also she did a lot of effort to keep the group (of al kinds of nationalities) together. She was like an Italian mother taking care of her family. We visited the Vatican on a rainy day in November, but Deborah made the sun shine.

“Tours can be a front for pickpockets”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

'We had the misfortune of being pitched in front of St Peters, by a person representing a tour company (legit). When they took us into a place called Naddeo "Souvenirs on Largo Del Colonnnato, they started talking about payment. I pulled out my money clip (BIG mistake) to pay. The young lady said "no, no pay at the tour company". Thought that is what they were.

Went to the restroom, came out and my credit cards and money were gone. There were signs all through out the shop of video cameras but when confronting the manager about seeing the video, I was told that none worked. The police, what a joke. It was like they were all on the pay of the pickpockets.

Wonderful city except for that run in at the Nadder Souvenirs.

“The Vatican”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

It was a walking tour, I was surprised at my ability to make it. The Tour guide was good she explained things, & described things and our group was a good size group. It was like walking a calif. 5K marathon. when we finished a lady with a step counter on said we had walked 4 miles.I believe her. So overall this tour was nice. Since this was Thursday we didnt get to see the Pope, he comes out on Wednesdays.... Well I did get to see the his City, and a lot of art work.

“Simone Lanna Joy of Rome”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

Our group booked a full day tour of The Vatican and Ancient Rome. Simone was our tour guide. He was personable, knowledgeable, accommodating, patient, funny and catered to our needs. He pointed us to the best "local" restaurant for lunch in between tours. Without a doubt...and we dealt with other tour guides during our stay in other parts of Italy...by far Simone exceeded them all. Don't leave Rome without giving Simone the opportunity to guide you. The benefit to "guided tours" is that you get to skip the lines and are treated like VIPs. And Simone treated us like VIPs.
