“Thank goodness we booked”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2014

Before leaving England we had booked an afternoon tour with Viatour. It was well worth it. Our group of 21 was met on time and issued with radio devices so that we could hear our guide clearly at all times. Nina was excellent and her extensive knowledge and enthusiasm made the visit outstanding. We would have floundered completely without a guide. We travelled through the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and then S Peter's and did not leave until after 6 pm. Although the Chapel ceiling and paintings are very well known, the opulence of all the buildings and the ceilings, old floors and statues are quite remarkable.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

Even as an atheist, this really is something you must see. The vatican is a fantastic historical site to walk around. The religious architecture is amazing. Best view is from the duomo, which you subsequently walk down and enter St Peter's Basilica which is beautiful.

It is fairly expensive for a tour but much better to have a guided tour or at least a headset or at the very least a guide book.

Does get very crowded though so earlier the better to avoid a queue and also better for pictures (if that's your thing). :)

Enjoy Rome!

“Very nice... But super crowed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2014

To many people, not enough time to experience everything. My guide really didn't explain much to us. We walked single file line most of the time trying to keep up with our guide. The art work, building, etc. are beautiful... Just to crowed to even take pictures. They expressed that this was not even high season yet.

“Something not to Miss”

The Vatican is one of the most beautiful places in Europe and should not be missed. Even if you can't afford a tour at least go to the Basilica as it is awesome

“Probably worth the money!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2014

As you approach St Peter's Square you will be accosted by a multitude of people who want to help you to avoid the long queues. For 41 Euros per head we had a guided tour with a very knowledgeable guide for about 2 and a half hours which gave us a taste of the museum, a tour of the gardens, 15 minutes in the Sistine Chapel and access to St Peter's itself which is an awesome site to behold. Definitely the biggest church I have ever been in but a "must see" when in Rome.
