We booked this property through AirBnB for 3 nights and never stayed a single night because we were so disappointed. We are currently asking AirBnB to intervene because the host has refused to refund us any more than 26% of the amount we prepaid. This unit had a good number of positive reviews, and if you are looking for budget accommodations and are willing to make trade-offs it might work for you. We felt it significantly misrepresented itself as a "luxury" loft. The hosts complained that we left and. didn't give them a chance to fix things, but when the ceiling started leaking within the first 3 hours, that was the last straw for us. These were our issues:
1. Damp with mold smell
The loft is under a garden and the bedroom is actually a basement with no windows. The walls were damp and the room smelled strongly of mold. The host put a dehumidifier in the room, but it wasn't enough. When we were there the mold smell was even noticeable in the main loft area.
2. Marginally clean
Cleaning is an issue that can be fixed, but it should have been clean to start with. Surfaces were sticky, and the refrigerator was disgusting. The freezer was so full of frost there was barely any room and even the refrigerator part had frost and was dripping water.
This place has been rented a lot and it shows. Kitchen counters are stained and have burn marks. We opened the washer door and the bottom fell off, dumping rust and paint chips on the floor. The pictures make it look super high-end, and it might have been at one time.
The single bed in the dungeon bedroom is a folding cot with 3 inch soft foam. You can see the metal bar poking through where the pieces of foam are split. They claim to have a clothes dryer. It is a plastic rack with a heating element, not an appliance.
The main area is under the garden of the upstairs unit and there is a known leak when the neighbor over-waters their garden. Apparently it stops after a while, but all we saw was water dripping from the ceiling pretty quickly and a puddle forming on the floor. Not a high-end loft feature to us.
6. Street front
This loft is actually a street front unit. It was pretty noisy during the day when we were there. There is a security gate right in front of the door, which is good because this is the sketchy part of the Monti area.
They were super communicative about collecting the city tax, but after that not so much. Their first response to our issues didn't include any concern, just that they'd have to check our claims and get back to us ASAP. That ASAP was 3 days.
As I said, there were lots of positive reviews on AirBnB so we may be the outliers. However, our expectation was a high-end, sparkling clean loft in great shape. That's not what we found. Unfortunately, there is no way to post pictures for lodging reviews so you could see what we saw.
This place just had everything.
Travelled with ages 42,22,18,15,8 Appartment was massive, washing machine and everything you would want at home. LOCATION everything is just a step outside the door. Loved our stay here the best after 7 weeks of travel.
